The impossible, what to tell normal people to buy for me

oh dude this

Darn Tough socks

ExOfficio or Uniqlo Airism underpants

American Apparel Tri-Blend t-shirts

REI Flash 18 pack

Whatever chains and batrape you use.

Outlier T-shirts. I got 2 this year and they are amazing. Cotton on the outside, wool on the inside.

Definitely Uniqlo Airism, not Ex Officio. I’m in the process of switching out all my underwear from the latter to the former. All my Ex Officio boxer briefs lost their elasticity and started feeling really rough after about a year, and the fabric quality was all over the place when new.
Maybe that’s just how long underpants last, but even so, Airism boxer briefs are half the price. Apparently this is something I’m passionate about. Oh, and never Patagonia’s travel/tech fabric underwear, most expensive and least goodest of all of those that I’ve tried.

Gift success! Now I can make coffee at home and bring to work for the day.

I got a Rapha merino winter collar this year. It’s a nice, simple gift that I probably wouldn’t have bought for myself but now that I have it I can see myself using it a lot.

I also got some cycling socks. Always a good gift to receive.

you have achieved enlightenment

Transitioning my entire underwear drawer to uniqlo airism did, in fact, feel just like that GIF

Also, a great fucking purchase were the airism underwear tanks, they’re lighter, cheaper and better functioning than any cycling specific base layer

What else is good from Uniqlo?

Down vests and things

intrigued by their heattech jeans. haven’t seen them here yet, only in japanese ads.

love the airism/heattech tops and airism jocks. I also have some sw8 quilted pants that are like luxury trakkydaks.

Similar revelation when I switched to pretty much full time Under Armour undies. I think they probably fit my thunder thighs better than Uniqlo would, but I am still intrigued

Gotta say that I think the heattech is bullshit. I bought a top and a few pairs of socks, can’t tell any different between this any other synthetic of the same thickness.

If you like Smartwool socks, check out Point6’s socks. Supposedly the latter was founded by the original Smartwool people. Good socks, and more durable than Smartwool.

uniqlo selvedge is good cheap intro selvedge

TC: my gingham picnic jeggings are Uniqlo

they’re great for all the affordable thin merino sweaters and fitted dress shirts that H&M used to be ok at, but higher quality and way more colors

in general it’s like if American Apparel was run by a collective of expert Japanese fabric engineers instead of a wannabe pornographer

I heard the same story about Fits Socks. Did everyone abandon smartwool and start their own sockventures?

Dunno about the origin stories, but I have opinions.

Point6 are solid, a bit more durable than Smartwool.

Fits are rad, better looking, better fit, more comfortable, haven’t noticed any real wear in my ~2 yo pairs. Also have toes color coded by size in case you and sup get the same socks.

it me

I think we can all agree that whoever made sure Smartwool socks weren’t garbage doesn’t seem to work there anymore.
