IME doing sales and fitting at a bike shop, most people are terrible at guessing or remembering their own height. Maybe it’s because the majority of people are close to average, but it seems like the most common culprits are are dudes that are like 5’10" to 6’0 and are convinced that they are 6’2 and need a 58cm frame. Then I have to make something up about differences in brand sizing or special snowflake proportions to convince them they really need a 56cm without harming their egos.

I’ve always (after a certain age) measured as 5’9" (or 5’10" with shoes). My driver’s license still says 5’8", because every time I renew, they keep copying the information from my original license, which I got when I was 16.

Well, I’ve been 5’5" since I was about 12, so I don’t really know. I think the taller measurements were just nurses not giving a fuck and measuring sloppy, seeing that I was taller than I used to be (which made sense up until I was 17 or 18) and didn’t think anything of it. Over the last ten years, though, I have no idea.
