yuk

I don’t understand why you would willingly use the bare metal hoods. Unless the bike isn’t there to be ridden.

If it’s not a flite or bomber pad does it even count

Another gem from the local market

We decided not to sell our old Santana. Since we’re keeping it for fast rides, I tried spicing it up by flipping the Milan bars upside down:

It is a pretty horrendous fit, so I’m hoping to achieve a longer reach, just like the rustpile above.

Ordered a Nitto RB-002 for stoker and soma 3 speed 2’s for up front.

Really hoping I don’t hate the mustache bars, like everyone said I would.

because there’s no bad fender thread:

DQ - bad handlebar edition:

Barends on mustache bars for long reach hand position? :-1: or :+1: ?

You do you but looks like it would feel bad. Where are the levers gonna go?

There’s only one way to definitively answer this question.

They’re the Soma 3-speed so I’ll be using VO flat bar levers and Suntour thumbies (22.2 clamp). I think it’ll work decently well when wrapped in bar tape. We’ll see.

Ideally I’d switch this all back to a drop bar but it’s the tandem and thats a lot of work with new cables, different shifters, and replacing the housing that’s rusted into the cable stops.

Ugh. It is right for this thread in that it looks heinous. Once I get the positions all sorted and wrap it, maybe it will look better… I’m going to pretend it’s like an exaggerated jones bar.

with mtb levers/shifters its basically an albatross with more reach, doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would. I don’t like bars with a hand position that parallel to the stem, but thats just my wrists. The dual narwhal looks bad, but yeah, wrapped up it might be fine and if its comfortable who cares. It’s a tandem, its already weird.

I did something similar with stoker knobs on albatross bars.

I thought they’d be a good hand position for climbing (or Cat 6ing Citibike riders over the top of the Williamsburg bridge), but I probably haven’t touched them for a year.

This is like how my Breezer Finesse came stock. Townie bars with 90s bar ends mounted to the forward curves. Anytime I tried to use them I just got fistfuls of cable.
