this could do it, putting mtb grip sections on the nubs instead
take the brake levers off leaving the clamps behind, and start the bartape flush with the end of the ESI grip to make it continuous

man i fucking hate brooks tape if weâre talking leather. i swear they canât find a long enough cow and have dumb scarf joints that make tensioning such a delicate balance. fizik makes good fake cow that costs less and wraps way easier. i never tried the cambium tho
There are two cambium tapes, the rubber one is actually amazing and the fabric one sucks ass

Can you tell us any more about this rubber tape
I have been using a lot of the basic Cinelli tape but have considered dithering. If it handles sweat well I think I will need some.
Yeah! itâs a 3mm tape with a thin layer of some nice tacky PU rubber material laminated on top of EVA foam. I like it cuz itâs not too thick, it wraps nice and tight, has that grippy/tacky texture, and has no branding. The natural color is a nice tan that matches gum hoods, and there are some fun options too if u wanna tarck out. The included rubber bar ends are nice too. itâs pricey but not too much more than, like, your nicer fizik options these days, and you can find it on sale places (I got it on amazon for like 25 bucks recently).
Juryâs out on how long lasting it will be, but it seems really durable. The rubber layer on top seems like itâs gonna take a lot of abuse and keeps it from tearing easily. The cambium fabric stuff just didnât wrap well and tore instantly which sucks ass.

Ah that sounds good. I have a bike that donât ride that has some ancient Caleido tape that is starting to tear so this rubber tape sounds like it might be a nice replacement. It will at least look nicer hanging in the garage with some new tape.
I got the microfiber perforated brooks stuff for about $25
So I wanted to try narrower handlebars after checking out a GCN video where every single pro they talked to is on like 38s or less.
Iâm getting some 38 cm nitto B115s that were cheap locally, letâs see how they work out. I have a feeling itâll be fine since much of the time on the hoods i am cocking my wrists inward to get more aero. As a bonus, they are 25.4 and will fit an njs threadless stem that I have and want on my nord for obvious reasons.
How intriguing that pro roadies have quietly gone way, way narrower than most road bikes are specced at for OEM bars, at the same time that mtb and gravel folx went to 48"+ bars.
I donât know if this is that good a sample of riders to confirm an overall shift. Two small sprinters and a bunch of TT specialists (and Adam Hansen). I wouldnât be shocked on way or the other, but Iâd be curious where Sagan and other bigger classics riders (or larger sprinters like Kristoff or Demare) weigh in.

I have a 32cm pair of steel childrens drops which will form part of a bike I am slowly dithering together. I am on 38s now and they feel normal, pretty sure I have narrow shoulders though.

We are making a mockery of the CONI manual in this thread.
Sagan is more into the newer trend of pitching shifters slightly inward, and rides a 42cm bar. I bet it rounds out to 40cm.
There is a very strong anatomical argument for matching your bar to your acromion-to-acromion measurement from a comfort and efficiency standpoint. There is some weird toxic masculine bullshit surrounding bar width it seems, and every time I hear some dude feel the need to publicly mention that they ride 44âs, I get a strong vibe that they donât actually know what theyâre talking about. The global average shoulder width of men is under 42cm. It gets worse when people pair a mondo wide bar with a short stem âfor handlingâ when at that bar width, you are barely going to impact steering speed regardless of stem length. If they wanted to optimize on-road handling they would buy a frame that allows them to comfortably distribute their weight with a stem length that places the riders hands above the contact patch.
Fuck it, most people who ride âgravelâ should be on hybrids anyway.
