the return of the bad handlebar thread

And only 165$

When you put a short torso’d, long legged person on a tiny bike they look like a clown and their bars will be way too low.

I feel attacked

is there an easily measurable ratio for torso to leg length? like if waist to clavicle < inseam = short torso

There’s probably some data out there, but I haven’t searched for anything myself.

Mine was really illustrated when I sent in my body measurements for the Kirk and he’s all like “this doesn’t seem right at all do these measurements again”.

Inseam: 36.9"
Torso: 22.2" (inseam to clavicle notch)

And that’s probably why on my first day of high school my drafting teacher, also the cross country and track coach, asked if I was interested in running hurdles.

tough call here because folks like pvd have explained (in the most assholish manner possible) that sometimes this is beneficial but most people that buy it are just going to use it on bikes that were too big for them to begin with. Gonna be a lot of fucked up steering happening on your local grav grav lol.

A 0mm stem also ends up looking pretty clown like

I have had some tremendously absurd handlebars over the years. Join me on this journey of self-growth…

Soma Junebug = drops or hoods, pick one (but make it drops cuz you’ll never get the hoods to feel good

Then my attempt to run flat bars without swapping to flat bar levers. Enter the Sycip JJ bar aka break your wrists bar

And finally the most atrocious, the Origin8 Cargolite bar (came with a specific dangle bag that broke immediately. The grip section is way too short on these but I still have them because they’re just THAT weird:

I really hope you cringed as hard as I did looking back on poor decisions, thank you for your time.

9-deg sweep is a non-starter for me.

I don’t know where else to post this but I was really stoned a couple nights ago and could not stop laughing at this photo I saw on Reddit

Don’t want to lose the resale on a cheap steel fork.

the fact that it’s mostly 1u spacers really sells it

Probably “does all their own work” but can’t cut a steerer

(actually that is me but I take my forks to the shop)

Some people build a bike around a hub

Other people build a bike around a huge pile of spacers

Oh man, I have come so so close to buying those Origin8 bars/bag off amazon so many times. Could never quite pull the trigger.

I am compelled to ask you if yours are for sale?

@jimmythefly Sorry :frowning: I don’t think I’m ready yet. I have a lot of fond memories of wearing them around my waist and riding/running around making dirtbike noises.

The second I scrolled down to that All City I rolled back from my computer while muttering “WHOA fuck” my subconscious reacted to it before I could even articulate what was going on. Like when you see a snake on the trail while hiking, your body moves you away from the danger before your mind engages.
