@Elliott wants the rrb

Lady in my wife’s gym class wants to sell this. Ebay comps are all over the place, but what do we think about the price for a basic Merckx with Chorus?

I already told her to take new pictures with the tires pumped and the saddle jacked up higher.
If the FB link doesn’t work, she has it listed for $1200:

I have a very similar merckx listed for 1500 and based on response it seems appropriate.

Considering selling my 1985-86 Specalized Stumpjumper. It’s got nitto bullmoose bars, paul brake levers, stronglight cranks, RH rat trap pass extralight tires, brooks B17, and a nitto front rack. A few scratches on the paint but otherwise in good shape. Any ideas?

Kinda wanna buy this from a customer, absolutely do not have my finger on the pulse of used bike prices. Thinking of offering $500. 105 triple, smooth post canti, clearance for fat tires, front end is a little too tall for me but I can #slamthatstem. Would probably strip every single part off this and rebuild with 2x11 Ultegra and dyno stuff.

For some reason, I feel like this and one of those Velo Orange eccentric BBs is something I NEED in my life. Tarck, I implore you, tell me this is a bad idea.

that looks sick. I wonder what tubing its made out of.

No clue. This would be a very pointless single-speed project for social rides so as long as it’s straight and without cracks, it’s good enough I suppose.

It’s presumably designed for 42-584 tires or smaller. So what tires would you ride??? :jan: :jan: :jan: :jan: :jan:

what’s the boss on the inside of the left seatstay?

I wondered too. The description says “non-drive-side seat stay has bolt threading for dynamo-powered rear light or generator.” Looks like it’s probably in the right location for a bottle/rim dynamo but I don’t know what the proper place is for those things.

would be an ok spot for a light bracket I guess

42+fenders probably means I could squeeze some 46 Pirellis in there. Or whatever really.

That’s a great bike-nerd kinda thing to build. Sure, you could do a long-reach sidepull brake 650b conversion, but it’s much cooler to have a frame dedicated to the task with brazed-on brake posts.

Needs a matchy frame pump! I guess that location is good if you need to shoulder-carry, but annoying if you want two sets of bottle bosses.

EDIT: And I didn’t see that the V-O eccentric BB Bois are in stock!

full size v-brakes, and the multi-axis SRAM brake levers

fulfill Mig’s flat bar 650b singlespeed porteur dreams

I convinced my friend to bid on this. The race is on.

back to the original question - what is it worth?

Too rich for my purposes.

My friend was the second highest bidder but didn’t want to go over 800

Trying to find something else for him. Is this reasonably priced? Looking for a camping bike of any style that fits 42s for a parts bin build.
