The "what's it worth?" thread.

I wish I knew the TT length.

$640?

ehhh maybe
I dont get how old used shit sells for so much, but I guess you could make a rebound profit by selling that group on it.

If I was made of money that thing would be mine.
It’s pretty much my dream bike.

Not to hijack thread but about a year ago now someone in Marin was selling one of these complete for $450!!! I saw it almost as soon as it was posted on CL but it was gone in seconds. Absolutely gorgeous bikes. I might have stopped buying bikes if I had been able to snag it. I am trying to figure a similar paint scheme to have the primered De Rosa I have repainted in, possibly black to pink to white fade.

Oh dang.
I didn’t notice that it was pounds.

Anybody know anything about Oasis?
Looks fillet brazed and 56x54 sounds right up my alley.

not Italian, Rusty. Eyes on the prize.

But the fit!

there are other 56/54’s out there.

Fillet brazed/lugged custom frame. Looks good. 531 is good. Probably a steal for a couple hundred. Am I the only one that thinks Italian bikes are overrated?

I do, but they sooooo purty.

also, I haz italian BB.

I think I’ll be pursuing the Oasis.

i agree. their paint is shit, and just because they used some obscure series of columbus tubing doesnt make them special to me. its a used bike that was possibly handmade. for me the only exceptions are de rosa’s, colnagos, and NOS stuff. Id much rather have something like an indy fab over an old torelli or gios or what have you if I wanted a sweet steel bike and money wasnt an issue. but used italian frames are pretty cheap used, and you cant argue that some of those things ride much better than some 4130 bike. my gf loves her de bernardi thron.

rusty: get that 531 custom shiz.

The more I look at that bike, the more I like it. Fillet brazing is awesome and the fastback seatstays are sexy as hell. I still don’t know anything about Oasis.

get the oasis. prob more bang for the buck than any italian thingy.

my q:

i just got a frame sorta similar to the oasis (older custom frame from an just about unknown maker, tanaka). i have a shimano 600 group ready to go on it, and eventually want to move towards something modern.

a local bike shop has a pair of race-lites for 75 bucks. look in decent shape… i don’t know how many race lite models there are, but these have bladed spokes. i had been intending to eventually go up to 10-speed something (mixing various shimano/sram things as is compatible and based on what is cheap). the LBS guy said the racelites were for a 8-9spd body.

should i buy them at least to use for now, using a 7-speed cassette and the rest of my group?

i’m thinking if nothing else i’ll grab them and snap some pics/show them around to more knowledgeable people and return/sell on CL if all-else fails.

there’s also a pair of da 7800 to open pros for 200 bucks which is pretty much perfect, a wheelset i’d be happy to use 'til i die/make lawyer money and ride only shamals and disc wheels. i got a birthday coming up and will have some extra cash.

bah.

a fourth (beyond the racelites, OPs, and keeping what i already have… matrix hard ano rims to 600 hubs with a freewheel rear) option is to build a pair of 32h open pros to some nice budget hubs. what’s out there?

bahhhhh

(edit - just emailed to offer 160 for the open pros. they’ve been up for a little while, might work).

Nope.

that makes me feel like a fucking sucker for how much i paid for my 9spd veloce stuff

oh well

should i snag it?
