Does it occur to anyone as weird that the manufacturer of EPO is sponsoring the Tour of California?
Not really. EPO is actually a useful drug. They gave it to my aunt when she became anemic due to the treatment she was receiving for lung cancer.
Very much a useful drug in other contexts. I’m just amused by the connection to cycling. Also, fuck this rain. The weather was brutal today.
Yeah I was in Santa Cruz today and am gonna be in SJ for the start of Stage 3 tomorrow. The weather is gonna be shit ![]()
i’m hoping to catch the end of stage 5 in paso robles
all you central california people should go!!
It’s not weird, it fucking hilarious. How the hell did that come about? Do they make sports drinks and shit like that or is it all like, “fuck it, they buy a shitton of EPO, we might as well sponsor the race with the money we make”?

I can assure you that all of the EPO that could ever be used by all of the professional cyclists that exist today is not significant enough to affect Amgen’s bottom line. It’s still funny, though.
…the sprinters are making their way to the finish line so we’ll now cut to coverage of hockey. Join us again tomorrow for more coverage.
What. the. fuck.

so pissed.
We have a rather slow internet connection (we think it’s because our area is over-subscribed with college students) so I’ve been watching it at a coffee shop that shows all the big races. I hate the fact that I’d have to “try” to watch it online to see the whole thing.
LANCE’S TEAM’S BIKES.
Have we talked about that yet? What the fuck.

yes. i think the consesus was we don’t really care.
I heard he collided with a press motorcycle the next day and had to switch bikes midrace. Anyone know the extent of the damage? It would be sort of amusing if he lost both his TT bike and his mass start bike in 24 hours…
i know levi touched his wheel and went down.
also - anyone laugh when they saw landis in the OUCH kit after the crash? i know i did… ouch!
Why doesn’t Cavendish race track?
EDIT: Apparently he does. I never knew.
Two days in a row. What a beast. I can’t wait for the Paris-Roubaix.
Yeah, Cav was an elite track racer. He was in the 2008 Olympics racing for GB. He’s finished forever now, apparently. You can tell he’s a track racer by the way he doesn’t look when he’s sprinting - no one raised racing road will turn his head completely down.
Whens the tour coming through Southern California?
i think with the finish today they said theyre officially in so cal
