if you make it to austin
you can crash at our house
If for whatever reason you make it to Houston, I could set you up here too. I;d even feed you and lend you a sponge on a stick to wash yourself out back.
Saddle and pedal suggestions?
brooks/grip kings.
Also best map source for bike routes? I am looking at a few things online today but no idea how good they are. Les? Toast? Doofo? Heath’s buddy Sven?

i’m just trying to be helpful, jesus
Try this:
i just want to make sure you have thought this through…bike touring for months on end means very little time for video games.
with no time for video games, and looking at my current budget, it won’t be too long. I’ll be lucky (and fairly pleased) if I can make it to Seattle.
Edit: Looking at budget today is not very inspiring.
Seattle? Come on Dan, pedal to Florida.
Coast to coast or bust.
I use a combination of maps. Google maps, when using the “biking” option, will put you on some gravel roads. Bikely, does a decent job of cycling friendly type roads and my GPS (gamin 705) does a mapping option directly from the device, but sometimes, it takes you out of the way. Just make sure that when you’re mapping your route, that there are places for you to get water and food. It may not apply to you, but this is a super key thing with the heat that I’m riding through.
Go to the Midwest…I should be in Minneapolis by the end of the month
How far would 2k get me?
most likely pretty damn far, especially if you aren’t paying to camp and don’t spend too much on food, etc.

time frame? 2 months? 6 months? 2 years?
edit: trying to see if its worth giving up my apartment and selling all my crap.
don’t really have any experience, but if you spend just under $17 a day you could go 4 months. if you are really cheap and can somehow only spend $10 a day you could last 6 months. this would probably be hard, but a box of pasta and a can/jar of sauce can probably be had for $5, or rice/beans, etc. you would have to guerrilla camp or sleep on couches instead of paying to stay somewhere.
Budget $20/day I say!
