Weird Build Dithering Thread Infinity: Part 2

If you give me like $250, I’ll build you a brand new wheelset.

Ope I’m just now seeing this.

The Rambler continues to be my favorite bike ever, but if it didn’t exist I’d definitely consider a Piolet with a nice light wheelset. I can’t speak to the Tumbleweed bars specifically but the Rambler is great with flat/alt/riser/not-drop bars.

Well now I need someone to give me a threaded stem that takes 31.8 bars

Crust UI is tasty

I just found this ridiculousness in my photos that I completely forgot about. It’s not my bike but I respect the run what ya brung spirit.

afraid of what happens when you spring your dropper while bending down to reach between your feet

maybe you could mount it on the downtube and shift with your foot like a motorcycle.

or you could just buy cables?

Yeah idk how that’s the rung what ya brung spirit because the shifter and the dropper lever could both just be run on the handlebars and be easily accessible, but they did whatever that is instead.

So I’ve basically convinced myself that since I’ve got enough rim brake parts sitting on a bike that only takes 28s, and I’ve been a bike nerd and a middle aged professional long enough that I should get a Rivendell. But then I see this Bridgestone with 27x1/4 tires that would probably fit 35s(?) for $100 and my cheapass instincts kick in. I wish it wasn’t 2 hours away.

WWTBD?

Driveside BB cup still in it but the spindle and left side removed? Sus.

Seatpost slammed into frame and spun around but not removed? Sus.

No way is that worth a 2hr trip.

There’s another pic with the seatpost spun a different way. Obviously I’d ask some questions. And obviously the whole bike is less fancy than a Riv, but I like the color and graphics and maybe it would do 95% of what I want for a bong less?

You’re right tho: I really don’t want to drive 2 hours for anything anymore. I hate losing half a day. I hate driving.

Get the riv if you want it. You’ve paid your dues building old rusty frames.

Get the Riv because you’ll probably still want one after you buy that.

I have a T500 and a Riv, Riv rides better. Get a Riv, leave that for some college kid to get the Grant sickness.

So I wanted a particular musical instrument but held off because it was “too expensive”, so instead I wasted five years of my life buying “less expensive” instruments thinking it was the same thing. Got my hands on the expensive instrument and now I am mad about all the time I wasted and all the crap I have laying around now.

Get the Riv unless you want your bike mess to be a revolving door of things that aren’t the thing you wanted in the first place.
