I got to oogle one of these in person the other day. It belongs to the owner of an lbs here and was on display in the shop. It’s an extremely beautiful bicycle. That picture does it no justice.
Carbon Fiber downtube shifters to re-create black versions of commonly available silver components
In diacompe 12 size
With retro friction innards
does mavic zap require a special cassette?
I have no idea but maybe these links can help?
Nope.
@EndpointBraden is a larkspur frame ever a thing? My e-bike dithering has taken a turn
Not that I’m aware of.
Just 8 speed road sized jawns. I don’t think it’ll clear a 32.
i think i want to recreate pengy.
and would like it to be as nice as possible, while staying true to all components and setup.
So like, carbon bars, really nice steel frame, lightweight seatpost, etc?
i think a nice steel frame and fork would be cool, but am wondering how many nice frames i’ll find that have semi-horiz dropouts and long enough stays to cram a pump in between the seat tube and wheel.
i’d like to get the actual component for the things that are identifiable like the cranks (sugino somethings) and the saddle (selle something).
wheels seem to be the easiest, looks like standard issue deep v and arospok. and the tires appear to be vittoria.
You should get Bishop to build the frame, because it would be a hilarious Radfetish troll.
1982 Trek 720 was nice 531 steel, long chainstays, caliper brakes. There may be a couple of other years that it came with caliper brakes not cantis. You could also just hack the canti studs off if needed.

I think finding a 27" wheel bike from the 70s/80s and putting a 700c wheel on it will help give some of that seat tube clearance
my first fixie conversion was a Puch that had a similar look to it
Ive got a trek 520 Ill send you for shipping
The unicrown fork is a must. A high end triathlete forward offset seatpost would be pretty funny. Extremely deep carbon rim spray painted orange.
Do we know what Pengy was? Some gas pipe 83 Peugeot?
the proportions are what drive the pengy vibe, with the wheels anti-tukt in such a relaxed frame that still ends up being too big for the rider. it doesn’t work if it is a steep and tight track frame… or maybe it does?
