Weird Build Dithering Thread Infinity: Part 2

Downhill.

Apparently it’s even too ugly to be purchased in Germany

it’s 7 speed but not actually 7 speed. 10 or 11 speed pull (depending on gen) with 6 clicks

I believe you, it just seems crappy that he hasn’t leveraged the two fork legs per side for mounting, and instead it’s just “hang whatever wherever”

uh, what about these:

@JUGE_FREDD says not to?

Edit: to be clear, I mean actual warts on the truss.

need versus want?

I wonder if we can convince a bag maker to produce a pack that fits inside the Jones truss fork’s upper section.

The only thing with a bag inside the truss fork is anything inside of those bounces and bangs on the truss fork. I mounted a padded feedbag in the top of my fork but stopped because it made me nervous how much my phone bounced into everything.

Jones frames are HUGE. I’m talking about full size frame bag, two bottle cages and room for a top tube bag flipped upside down if you wanted to. If you got a frame bag that fully filled the space that would be a ton of storage.

EDIT: Not the best photo but you can see a full sized frame bag, two bottle cages and there is space for another bag. I tried mounting a top tube bag upside down before but never needed that so never did it on a ride.

but that’s my point

when you have a structure like that you don’t need or want to use bolts

you can “hang loose” instead of rigidly thinking like a suit or something maaan

place your old razor blades in the center of the truss to sharpen them

I want to believe. But lashing random shit all over sounds a lot like the bike I already have.

The large Rapha half-frame-pack is a good fit on Jones diamond frames (24" ETT). Only leaves room for one bottle cage, though.

I’m totally down for a frame bag, even the ridonkulous full diamond frame one. Just trying to suss out the best secondary storage. I’d prefer not to go rear rack or butt rocket if possible, just for bike feel. I don’t have a full load out yet but my plan is to do most of the Great North Trail in the UK next summer

Darn these thunder thighs! I’ve given framebag life a decent shot, but my legs rub 'em.

the fancy partial framebags are mostly tapered these days

fat only at the very front behind the headtube

Oveja Negra is one of the best all-around jawns built that way

Front lowriders are the one true bike luggage, change my mind.

Dithery parts shuffle: ordered SLX 1x crank, 30t ring and Deore BB for my P29er. Singlespeed will inherit its old square taper BB w Nexave hollowtech crank and 30t ring. Singlespeed loses its 20 yo bottom of the barrel SR350 crank with crappy chainring.

I guess I’m aging faster than the parts.

What are some disc brake forks that come with 50mm or more offset and have some kind of rack mounts?

So far I’ve dug up:

Surly Midnight Special (400 AC/ 50mm rake)
VO Piolet (400/57, 420/63)
Soma (390/65)
Thorn 700c (383/52)
Thorn mk3 (410/57, 410/60)
Endpoint (396/70)

9/8" steerer?
Crust had the evasion fork listed as a 65mm rake, but now it’s a 45mm rake. probably filled out the order form wrong and had to fix it when they showed up.

If this ever comes back in stock it could be a thing:
https://crustbikes.com/products/lightning-bolt-fork/

https://blackmtncycles.com/shop/frames/road-plus-fork/
390 a/c 60mm rake

the black mountain monster cross disk is a 410x55 too.

My current problem is that i want to replace the fork on my commuter with something lowish trail, 400-410 a/c, disc brakes, full complement of warts, and QR dropouts so I don’t have to rebuilt my front wheel.

Basically, I need a unicorn fork, and not some soma wiggleshit (not unicrown, that exists)
