Santa Cruz was so close to figuring it out when they made the Juliana grip - they decreased the radius of the bar, so you could have a grip for smaller hands. I don’t know why they didn’t take the logical next step, which is take advantage of the smaller radius and made a lock-on grip with extra padding, for normal hands. And now they abandoned the Juliana handlebar, even though it was awesome and woman loved it.
I’ve been doing the zip try trick to put on and remove grips when compressors aren’t handy. Just stick a fair number of zip ties in the grip, plastic ties slide along the bar, and once it is in place just tug the ties free one by one. To remove just use a dull flat head and re-insert zip ties. Might take a bit of a muscle at first, but once that static friction is broken it slides off with typically no damage.
ESI grips are a must on Jones bars. Ergons are OK on bars with less sweep, but for Real™ MTB use, the GE1s are the shit.
Doesn’t ESI make grips specifically for jones bars?
They do. Jones is selling his own grip, too, which is made out of EVA instead of silicone.
I do love the long ESIs on the Jones bars. Making me think about putting ESIs on my basket bike.
strange. mine go numb on everything else.
Had no idea what you were going on about, so I looked it up. Looks quite clever: Sensus Grips: How To Install Using Zip Ties - Pinkbike
Went tubeless on supwifes bike last night.
See? Tubeless.

You can talk some shit about that cockpit if you want… right up until you get a gander at her Strava track. Then everyone pretty much just shuts up. Bike is balleur and she rides the many many shits out of it.
What bars are those? They look like something I’d enjoy.
Fleegle bars, with 2in chopped off both ends for lady shoulders.
So, the Salsa Rustler carbon bar is fucking awesome.
With the 29+/fatty, my hands went numb after a while - the previous bars were cheap and stiff as hell and on an aluminum frame+fork, and I felt every little thing. I think it’s the frequency of the aluminum vibration, even with soft tires aluminum bikes bug the shit out of my hands. Happened even on a Jake the Snake too.
Anyway, these bars mute it all. They still feel nice and stiff/stable when I’m out of the saddle, if it’s flexing it’s not really bad. But, on pavement and rough concrete and sorta-cobbles my hands feel great. No tingles or numbness. They rock.
I assumed Salsa was going to be good - they’re an ‘adventure for old dentists’ company so I figured they’d prioritize comfort on these bars rather than race-winning stiffness. It also has plenty of room for lights and such on either side of the stem - my last one was so swoopy I literally couldn’t fit a light more than 3/4" away from the stem. So, Garmin on the stem, light on the bar, happy Snowman.
lol I have a pair in my bin.
ha!
I’ve always wanted a pair of fleegles, they’re so cheap, but shipping from the UK is nuts, do y’all really pay for them from on-one or find them in local parts bins?
I bought two pairs back when they had a US distro.
Unfortunately On-One stuff is not worth buying anymore because of the shipping.

I’ve been trying to convince sup to try a similar cockpit but she isn’t having it; can’t get over the aesthetics I guess. Really think it might solve a lot of her hand/wrist issues but what do I know. On a related note, does anyone have any experience with guidonnet-style brake levers?

dude, like all of your posts are preemptively defensive. you have some fancy fred induced PTSD that makes you keep it 100 all the time?
Definitely way more annoying than any of the bikes.
