Just managed to do a fork swap on my MTB in under an hour instead of eating lunch. The only hang up was my dull AF hacksaw which made cutting the steerer a PITA. This included swapping a tire to a new rim and cleaning up my mess… Feels good usually I fuck things up 3 or 4 times before I get it right.

Finally got around to freshening up the drivetrain on my bianchi. New 8 speed 13-28 cassette, new chain, and WI cranks I got cheap from a friend a couple months ago with a new 50t ring and a slightly used 36t inner. Maybe one day I’ll put on a fancy 21st century drivetrain on it and ditch the dt shifters, but not today.

HY: I now own a fixie with a kickstand.
WTH: can’t put a kickstand on Ash’s bike because of these stupidly placed cable guides.
Edit: maybe I can do it if I get a shorter fender bolt. Maybe.

Terrible is right. My bike would fall over less without the kickstand.
Rode some trails in nebraska with surprising elevation change. Then another one with even more packed with trails, drops and features. Did my biggest drop on an mtb there, probably five feet.

Where? I didn’t really get into bikes until after I left, but I’m always curious what’s available. Especially as I’ll likely be visiting teh fam and road tripping through post-covid.
Put a Shimano rear dangler on my Tallboy. Twas all sram before I cannabalised it for my 
barn bike. Cleaned up my new donor retro wired Powertap hub and it’s all good. Got two of them now. Stuck a 9 speed cassette on it cos that’s what the roadie is. I can’t believe a 12-21 cassette used to be normal with a 39 up front.

The big blue Sam got a barely used black Brooks B17 and new black Salsa gel cork tape for matchy match vibes. Next is to take some pics and get it listed to sell.
Something disintegrated inside the disco travel bike’s rear hub, so it needs servicing before I can ride it again. I wasn’t sure what I’d find when I tore down the wheel, so I needed to build a spare disc wheel before servicing the old one. So why not get a cheap 28h ebay hub (in this case a last-years-model Flo hub) and use my spare wiggled SL wheel as a parts source for the full matchy-matchy experience?
I even ordered a bunch of black spokes, but it turns out the old spokes were the correct length and could be reused without any fuss. (About 30 minutes to disassemble the wiggled wheel & lace up the new wheel, then maybe another 30 minutes to dish it because 28h wheels are way more responsive to spoke tightening than 32 or 36h ones.) And it’s a 11 speed road freehub, so I could use an 11-32 cassette that I had kicking around my bike mess.
