What did you do to your crosscheck today?

40mm nominal. I’ll get a snap when I get it back (probably today). FD was definitely looking like the main limiter when I assembled it.

New HG? FD definitely is the major limiter on rear tire size- but you can get a 27.5x2.2 in there with a double and an FD-RX810. should test out a 700c wheel to see what I can slam

What bars you running there? They look great- nice and deep.

is it the swingarm or the band? If the latter, I’ve had good luck with an Omni Racer carbon derailleur band clamp, it’s like 1mm thick and frees up significant space at the point where the tire is getting really close.

The corner of the cage, actually- it’s right where a wider 650b tire would want to be- although that bodes well for a larger-diameter setup since the tire probably clears the rear edge of the cage with a 700c wheel!

Unrelated to this concern but I actually ended up having to get one of the metal Omni Racer band clamps, which have a cutout already, and do some not-insignificant widening of the cutout to it to get it around the lower bottle boss because they were right in the same place- although now it’s like it was meant to be. Super nice band clamp, well made, with a titanium bolt.

Grumble swearing. Need to file holes bigger if I’m gonna DP, can’t even one to make the turn

I dislike the lower bottle boss location on the H/G so much. Somewhere here are pics of the mods made to a Problem Solver’s clamp to clear that when I switched to a 42T big ring to get the Grant’s least favorite pusher into the right location.

Yep, new HG. Don’t have 650s built yet for budgetary reasons, so these will probably be on there awhile. I’ve got the 400 series GRX FD (on a problem solvers), the 5700 clamp-on was just too close to the bottle bolt and I don’t have a Dremel here.

Bars are Fizik Cyrano Snakes. Really close to my fav Deda deeps (which I also have but bought too narrow). Eventually I’m gonna get another set of the Deda and a lower angle stem before cutting the steerer.

the FSA Energy traditional is also a nice deeper drop option

I couldn’t quite capture it, but there’s a ~12mm gap from the tire on non-drive side, more on drive side. FD cage tail sits just inboard of the bend (but I also haven’t set for this crank yet).

Managed to get the cables in after some sanding. Will be switching them out in the future most likely

I made some mudflaps for my endpoint out of vinyl baseboard material from the hardware store.

Cabling headaches continue but I will be able to use this setup for the moment until replacement bars/stem/headset come in that will allow easier routing and gentler angles.

Random brand ceramic hubs arrived, look great to me. Gonna let the lbs build them up and we’ll be on the road fingers crossed

Are you gonna ditch the VB cockpit and go with the FSA set up?

Yea going with this

Plus this from Ali

will be easier to maintain and gets rid of the really tight corners. Some of this is very trial and error for me so I may be having issues because I’m doing it wrong lol.

Because #yourbikehatesyou has come for new bikes, not just neglected ones.

I’m ok with putting cables and hoses under the bar tape, but that’s it. No further.

Uh, unless companies decide on one elegant standard for getting things done.

which could happen?
