What did you do to your crosscheck today?

I do wish there was a triple sideswing with a bigger cage that could clear a 52 but that’s like multiple levels of abandonment

I feel like they work super well with my sram red levers. Not sure if they pull longer or shorter than other road levers but I havent noticed a loss in power from the hydros. So much cheaper if you buy them over there too.

I am real interested to know how easy it will be for them to differentiate between 3 or 4 different 12 speed spacings tho, with their new levers.

i don’t think anyone has nerded out on FD cable pull.

I haven’t actually touched one of the side-swing jawns yet. they set up like a “traditional” derailleur rather than like the road toggle link derailleurs, right? like, the limit screws do what you expect them to do and you don’t have to read the manual, you just set it up like any older FD?

Yep. It was a super easy and straight forward install.

Friction brifters might get me back on drop bars.

I just got their most recent prototypes of friction brifters. Literally working on the bike today.

I don’t know if any of you nerds went to MADE, but we had one there. People liked em.

So they work as friction outta the box Igor, but you can add an indexing plate to get the clicks? Do you have that option with the ones you are testing ? How does friction feel in a road bar scenario like that ?

Yes, you can add indexing plates. I think theyre still doing CBA for what people want in their indexing. Ill let you know how it goes!

do you think you could do the first product release as friction only, and then follow up with indexing plates later after more testing/tweaking?

seems like that would feed several birds with one scone

  • pure focused trolling/marketing factor of everyone hyping and shittalking about FRICTION BRIFTER
  • avoid spoiling the hype wave with arguments over specific indexing combos
  • underpromise and overdeliver

What does the shifting on the Growtac friction config? A/Sub levers inside the hood? The A lever paddle? I’m having trouble picturing this

I don’t understand how that’s any different from indexed, minus the clicks— it still seems like a ratcheting action that returns to neutral after each actuation, unlike a friction dt or barcon shifter that remains physically in position relative to the mech at the other end of the cable

That’s what’s throwing me off

Infinite indexing is the same as no indexing?

Sram did something similar to this with their R2C front TT shifter. I bet the mechanism is similar. Or maybe it’s like the clutch in a derderder

oops. wrong thread clicked while screen grab was floating on the mac.

you ever ride/work on campy? FD is/was like friction in that same sense

This is correct, it’s most like old left shifter Campy. It is a return to middle friction. There aren’t any micro-ratchets, just pure friction.

yeah it’s been a while but that’s what it reminded me of… and I don’t recall people calling campy shakes ‘friction’ bitd
