Started on the Xtracycle conversion. My first 1x crank and GTFO there old octalink bb. Disassembled the rear end to fix an obscure broken piece of hardware “wedding ring” and entirely confident I won’t reassemble the 10000 Velcro straps in the correct manner.
Did a thing. Wanted to carry this bag on that bike, was considering buying the $60 TV tray from Surly but decided to DIY since the Surly one wouldn’t be plug and play with this rack anyway. I liberated the sign forever ago from in front of the infamous No Brakes fixxie shop after a car knocked the post down.
These used to be my jam on the MTB in the late 90s early 00s.
We’d safety wire them on before lock-on grips we’re a thing.
I’m surprised that I like em, considering how thin they are.
That is going to be such a cooler use for that crank than I would ever use it for!
Oh shit the battery doesn’t actually fit right. I can’t use my top 3 gears.
On a scale of 1-10 how useless is that cross member? If it were… gone… I could use the Xtracycle adapters to shift the battery over and have all 9 gears.
In other extreme dither news, it’s great when you have 4 of the same dynamo light so you can combine all the extra linkages for this monster.
I’m no smart person but I’d bet it’s very much not useless at all, and probably pretty important
It looks like some versions of the Swoop mount it on that bar above where you have it now. You’d have to move your controller/speaker/whatever that is on the seat tube.
I swapped the Seine Bars back on the “commuter” and I’m stoked to hop some curbs. I made sure to trim the cables to an appropriate length this time.
There was this old lever actuated bell on eBay for awhile I kept almost spending a ridiculous amount of money on that pushed the bell into your spokes
can we see a close up on the bell side of things?
Even though it will be covered with a bag most of the time, drilling a drain hole in the bell might be a good idea.
I also wrapped the corners of the rack because I keep scraping them against walls trying to maneuver it around.
That rules!
It makes me laugh every time I ring it.
At least that dithering was successful because I can only get the NDS BB cup half way into the Mod Zero.
No dithering on that until I get it to a shop.
Screw in under BB cable guide?
I had that problem once. It was a real head scratcher until I noticed the spiral scratches on the biscuit cartridge.
