What did you do to your crosscheck today?

I have a relatively recent but common experience now to hear a loud freewheel behind me, getting louder on flat ground. A good guess usually, without looking, is an e-bike soon to pass me.

Bar tape and a brake lever installed on the Langster. I cut the cable housing too short and I’m still waiting for a shitty chromed cog I ordered from ebay. It’s been stuck on “Package Acceptance Pending” at a PO 19 miles away for a week now.

Put some more PSI into the rat trap pass tires and I’m liking them more. You think I’d know by now that supple thicc tires usually means having to keep more pressure in them than I think there should be, and more than less supple tires, just so they don’t feel squishy and weird in the turns.

I run mine at around 40

Was doing soft on the gf bike cause she’d lighter but she was complaining about having to change into a sports bra to ride it.

40, omg. I pumped them up earlier in the week at work and measured the pressure at home that evening. 32 F, 34 R, and that felt like too much. Been letting them lose pressure naturally since then. 30 psi in the front tire this morning might be just below the sweet spot for me.

I said I pumped them up to 4o. I didn’t say I keep them there

Because they leak over the course of the ride and you need that much to get home again?

no, they leak over the course of the month before I think to pump them up again.

We had a real rainy week a while ago and ever since, I’ve had a click at the top of my right pedal stroke so today I pulled the cranks, uninstalled and reinstalled the bottom biscuit, swapped pedals, greased and tightened a bunch of bolts, greased my rear skewer and tightened the chainring bolts(found a broken one).

I think I got it. Seems like it was probably the chainring bolt. Time will tell.

vape juice I think

Yesterday I finally got tired enough of the BB7s on the disc trucker and their annoying VERY LOUD SQUEALING in the wet to swap them out for some Hayes MX experts with matching rotors and replaced the cheap but fine Tektro levers with some old XTRs. They’re not even bedded in and they feel so much better why didn’t I do this months ago.

Hayes MX are actually good brakes!

For sure, I’ve had them on other bikes and bought a few extras when hearing they were getting discontinued. I’ve been happy with BB7s in the past as well. These ones have been awful.

Riding the tubulars it came with until I get some carbon tubeless wheels rolling, and later rebuild my 20h dynamo wheelset for it

getting weird with 3d printed etap bits in the meantime

Real road bike brakes, truly a man of taste.
