Got the dura ace for free and I needed to replace the sensah empire I started with. This shifts at the slightest twitch now. Ospw came with the group set, I just replaced the pulley wheels for the aesthetics
I went to a bike swap last weekend. The problem is that it is 100% bike nerds who are just like you. I ended up bullshitting the whole time and barely looked at anything. Felt bad as I had my wife there as we called it a joint ride. We only do one or two a year. Everyone was nerding out on my old Litespeed and we decided that we should organise a retro mtb/road ride/show one day. I dropped a bunch of my stuff off at the coop where I volunteer the other week. Felt good!
Tried to use a ball hone to clear out the egregious machine marks inside my steerer tube from my 1970s Italian bike preventing full insertion of my giant technomic tallux stem. But like a fool I bought a 1" ball hone. That’s the exterior diameter …
Damnit the 80 grit ball hone didn’t do shit except get gunked up with grease and such. Well now I’ve purchased a hand reamer. It will inevitably not fit into any of my chucks.
Installed the S-Ride long cage derailleur on the Vaya. Now, I have 11-40 cassette out back, which with the GRX 11-speed 2x, gives me enough low end to do mid-weight loaded touring on the bike again at my current fitness.
Oddly enough, what it means the most for regular riding is the 30-tooth chainring is so low, I’m in the big ring almost all the time now.
Having basically a 1x but with a 30t granny low for extended climbing is A+ in my book, it’s what got me to love 46/30 double cranksets in the first place.
Swapped parts from the small trek to the bike trek. Total fiasco. Bolts broke. One of the brake caliper arms snapped off wtf. Cut the steerer tube shorter than I meant to. And I can already tell it’s going to be too big. After all the problems I had with eBay seller, this bike is cursed. Maybe I’ll just chuck it in the river.
Started assembling the Jones and I’m not pleased. Hanger was bent, so I had to use the spare I ordered with the bike. Dangler is probably bent, too, but I’m not 100% sure. Jones specs a 0-offset chainring, which gives a ~57mm chainline on Boost OLD (making the 3-4 largest cogs all but unusable.
Will probably replace the BOX stuff with 11- or 12-speed Shimano.
