Swapped the 38mm cross tires for some 33mm mudders since next race is mud mud. 2 years ago only did 2/3 laps because it wasn’t fun how much mud there was that made my wheels not move. I mean, sure 38s weren’t conceptualized for a 2014 cross bike.
Oh, and they are TAF and only $50 for the pair. Used once. lol.
Dug this guy out from behind the shed after a very very long hibernation. Cleaned up pretty nice, swapped in a new chainring, cassette, and chain (zoom in on the before pic), need to replace the headset and bottom brisket, as they’re fully roached, but @featherduster just dropped some in the post for me. Gonna be a bike commuter again! Longer term plans include dynamo and tubeless, but probably not until sometime in the new year.
Good eye. Iirc, it’s an Endpoint fork and an orc rack. Came with an Endpoint espresso rack bag too. @EndpointBraden any idea the origins of the fork? I don’t exactly remember where I picked it all up from, maybe eBay.
This was a Glen-made fork and probably belonged to one of Andy’s friends (Mike). If so, it was on an early FBM frame before Mike switched to a carbon fork.
Started pulling my old cross bike apart and setting it up as a winter trainer for my kid. She has decided to join the university’s triathlon club. I couldn’t get the shed fenders to work, though, so I guess I’ll have to buy some.
Took the fork off my bike packing hardtail and put it back on the Tallboy. Put the rear wheel off the hardtail back on the Tallboy. Put the original fork back on the hardtail. Installed a remote shock lockout. Set up all the front brakes on both. Swapped rear tires on the hardtails wheel. Lifted the OPEN UPs stem about 5 mm.
Yeah, we did. It’s just so weird, since there’s a cap that’s just as fiddly and lose-able as Presta, and you have to take off to get the tube off of the rim, so every flat is worse.
wrapped cotton tape (not bike specific tape, just thin 1 inch cotton tape which comes in like a 10m roll with no adhesive) over the top of cheap eva tape, using double sided stiky-tape. Cushioning, wet grip and absorbency seem great.
