That rules. I’ve always wanted an e stay bike but it’s never materialized in my life.
Geometrygeeks says 71. I’ve got no idea what the original fork length was supposed to be, but that’s a 390ish Sunlite because I’m cheap. I got the bike with a Rockshox Mag 20 (I think) but that thing is still in my basement in a plastic bag, covered in its own oil.
@Rusty_Piton I never planned on it, but one of my good friends found it for really cheap and bought it for me. It’s weird, fun, and super flexy at the BB.
The Yuba bungee net lost elasticity pretty quick too, maybe it’s a bungee net problem…
I moved on to heavy duty occy straps from hammerbarn, haven’t looked back.
I love it
Went to deal with the seatpost making bad noises yesterday and loosening the collar (that was put on at the same time as the post) resulted in those same bad noises. Swapped out that collar for the stock thing and the bad noises were gone on the commute this morning.
Swapped out the stock Jones chair pole for a Kalloy Uno.
Swapped out Bonty flat pedals for Stamp1s.
Installed a new Elite bottle cage and Terske low-profile bolts.
I’ve been using the Bontrager cargo nets for years and they don’t really lose elasticity. Someone stole my oldest one while locked up last year but it was at least 5 years old.
I rode my bike to work for the first time since I wrecked two weeks ago. It was OK, my shoulder was a wee bit niggly but my hip felt OK and my bike seemed fine so that’s a win.
Tubelessed the Sequoia with some tanwall Schwalbe Pro Ones in 32mm. I’ll need to play around but initial pressure dropped from 80 psi to around 60.
Stabbed myself on the inside of my arm with a hot welding rod. So I ordered some actual welding sleeves for tig work instead of just some uv blocking cycling ones I had kicking around.
would go hard on the bike too
I was loving that my tracklocross thing was proving so easy to build, even made it a dingle. Then got flummoxed by trying to fit the rear tire. Turned out the wheel is an old-school 27 inch… Good news tho, found my missing 5 mm allen key. A friendly kaka had dropped it behind some stairs last weekend. Cheeky little bugger.
Roli and I washed a winter’s worth of salt and filth off our cargo bike. The salt was flying off the outside of the fenders in big chips and chunks it was outrageous. Then we threw water balloon things at the piles of salt on the ground.
Then I removed and replaced the gaffers tape and duct tape that’s holding the canopy together.
The great bar swappening of 2026 is underway. Which is typically nbd but I’m a push on grip Stan, so that means lots of jamming zip ties in and lots of rubbing alcohol to get them off.
This all was inspired by my in-laws bringing back a bike I built up for them which I put Maid Sixfifty bars on. 650mm bars are a bit narrow for ATB shenanigans [for me], and they wanted more comfort, so here goes.
Also over the last couple years I’ve realized that I really don’t get on with flexy cockpits (who knew), especially on fixed gears since they flex every which way when really torquing. I really enjoyed how stiff Jones bars were on my Bridgestone scorcher, but because I can’t leave well good enough I tried some VO Granola bars and Sycip Singles bars on it. They were comfy af but way too flexy and had Mary Poppins vibes, so it made me not super stoked to ride it.
So I took the black Jones bars off my Stooge Rambler to put back on the Bridgestone (because silver stem + black bars is the vibe). I took the silver Jones bars off the fixed MTB to put on the Rambler (because black stem + silver bars is the vibe). That meant the Maid bars went on the fixed MTB with some Soma bar extenders to get them to 740ish. 25º backsweep is plenty on that bike I think, and if not then there’s always more Jones bars (bend bars maybe).
Now I’d like for the mud to go away.
If you have a garage, I thoroughly recommend getting a compressor. Grips are no big deal with a shot of air.
Set my son’s bike up for some night time riding. Dynamo wheelset courtesy of @Blakey, lights courtesy of parts bin. My parts bin also came through with NIB Tubus rack to replace the POS that was on there. I know they’re Fredly, but damn I wish they still made these Abus x Tubus collabo racks with a u-lock holder. So convenient.
Took it for a test ride and immediately made plans to change dangler and cassette to 10-speed. This 9-speed is not giving me all of it.
Also needs smaller tires x fenders…
I’ve heard this but never actually tried it. In general I try to not use my compressor because it’s soooooo loud in basement but I’ll have to give it a shot one day.
the shriek that silicone grips give when you’re blasting em off the bars is also very loud
but so easy
Very happy surprise last night to see that my plastic sram 9.0 levers have adjustable pull ! Working nicely on my tracklocross bike with short pull long reach calipers.
