Mismatched crocs is the new upside down Chris king hub.

The black hubs always fade to an eggplant color.

That wheel came with free beausausage!

The old pink King hubs were a dusky silver within two years.

My OG black King road hubs are still pristine black tho.

I have a gunmetal colored pair that I bought that’s that color. Looks very similar.

Had a good 30mi ride that started in the upper 30s and ended up raining in the pow 40s. New fancy Velocio rain jacket worked awesome.

Resealed the wheels on my Jamis. Rear tire was losing ~2-3 psi/hour, and when I’m only running mid-40s on the road that makes a difference real quick.

Couldn’t remember when I put these tires on and whoops it was back in September 2025 and I haven’t ridden this bike very much since then:

MTB tires were put on a month earlier than that so I’ve got another project.

Side question - do y’all get aggressive with removing old dried sealant from tires or just the big globs if they’re there?

I just do big globs. I figure the rest is maybe helping protect against porous sidewalls.

I used to not bother until I had the combined dried sealant from ~2 years detach and form itself into a ball inside the tire during a ride. Which was solid enough to thump every revolution for the remaining 2 hours it took me to get home.

Now I turn the tire inside out and vigorously rub most of the sealant off with my Ninja Ice gloves. Takes maybe 5-10 minutes if it’s still wet, less it it’s totally dry.

I noticed my front tire is looking a little long in the tooth today. No flats or noticeable air loss on this thing since I installed it in November or so.

is that not normal? probably a good reminder to check my sealant level

Yeah, it’s normal for one of these tires to last me about five months and then start showing sealant spots all over and then be totally worn out about about a month later.

Eatin my fuckin words over here.

I had to stop and cram a dart in that fucker this afternoon. I was right in front of Wrigley Field so I’m probably in the background of a bunch of tourists’ pictures messing with my tire.

Even with fresh sealant the rear tire continued to leak at the same rate. I put it in some water and it’s leaking at a hot patch on the sidewall. Also, it seems like some casing cords broke and the tire has a significant wobble that it didn’t have before.

So today I threw that tire in the trash, grabbed one of the other leaky ones that I had warrantied but they never asked to have sent back, and mounted it with a tube.

It’s holding air just fine now.

I replaced my roached tire. My stockpile of IRC siren pro is almost depleted, only two left. My long suffering rim may be on its last legs too, I noticed some corrosion around some of the nipple holes.

I also rejuvenated my backup wheelset so I have spares.

Put a top tube pack on the road bike for holding snacks.
