What did you do to your crosscheck today?

“what hand position do you prefer?”

“NO”

It’s like those balance ball desk chairs

Picked up from BD today. They certainly charged me every penny of the estimate for the install, but the brake feels very good, and apparently it took many hours. Very weird experience in a plague era.

Unfortunately feels a little short for my back, but i’m not really surprised. Now to take it all apart and check the work.

Is this the one where the fork was cut short? To be fair the maximum spacer stack under the stem on those(all carbon forks imo) is 4cm. You can take that 2.5mm spacer I see at the bottom and swap it with the 1cm above.

no, that was the idea, but they cut it shallow of the stem if you set up like that. it’s a shame, because after riding it a little bit, i definitely do need that extra cm.

This was the goal, but with the max spacers.

Are those wickwerks chainrings

yes, i’m switching them out though

I got me one of them. Always seemed like an awesome bike except for the cantis.

I really hate this handlebar tape but it looks cool in pictures.

are really huge handlebar bags still hip? i think this one is honestly too big for these bars

I rode a Jamis Nova from Boston to Seattle in 2007 and then commuted on it for a couple years. The bike was nice ride but a bit noodly for (over)loaded touring (didn’t know better than German nude beach style back then). I was constantly fighting with the cantis. The fork had enough flex that it was impossible to keep the brakes from squealing and juddering.

what bag is that?

some kind of ruth works

It rides really good, though I don’t have the tool for the couplers and the dt one likes to work it’s way loose. Definitely nice having the disc fork though.

do you have the fancy teflon lube (dunno how crucial it is)?

tool wise, grab this and never worry again:

I made a set of those out of some crappy channel locks by just grinding away all but the first tooth on each jaw.

Just a PSA that there’s nothing special about the S&S wrench. It is just a hook spanner like one would use on a BB or cog lock ring.
