What did you do to your crosscheck today?

Swapped out the Breezer’s round chainring with an aB oval.

No and no, so yea ok sounds good I will investigate these things.

@Crustradamus oooh ok in that case I do actually have the tool. That’s what I’ve been using, but I figured the “real” tool would maybe hook into more than one of the grooves.

you’re good!

This is the one I used to have:

probably do need to buy something like that regardless, because the DT coupler and TT coupler are different diameters. So the spanner I’ve got for cogs and BB’s works fine for the former but is useless for the latter.

What? No you don’t.

I don’t know if I’d go as far as ol’ mig willie here but I do remember the spanner always seeming like it fit kind of loose but actually being able to torque shit down just fine. OTOH the one I posted clearly has two different size ends.

If it’s loosening up have you tried any kind thread preparation? Teflon tape? Blue loctite? Etc

I’m not gonna take a video for y’all but yea they’re two different diameters, and while the spanner I have also has two different diameter ends, the small side of the spanner is the one that works with the big coupler. Believe me I wish this were not the case bc it is stupid.

I haven’t got thread preparation but yea if it keeps happening that’s definitely the next move.

I still have a syringe of that fluo lube they recommended. Sold the bike years ago. How about putting some inner tube or something between the spanner and the coupler to help it stay on while you torque dat shite.

I have an old spanner shop tool that has one end that’s for that old threaded headset lockring. That’s what you want.

Solid thought. Fortunately the only one that’s coming loose is the one that I’m able to tighten.

Maybe one of these hinged bois?

Sup chose silver fenders for her new bike but ended up hating how they looked all mounted up so I replaced them over the weekend with some VO Wavy fenders in black. I really love how the fenders come with all black hardware.

Also gave her a Spurcycle Frankenbell for her birthday because I had an extra in partsbin and everything was closed cuz pandemic.

Replaced the knobby WTB Venture with Horizons and setup tubeless.

This bike is hot fire and those @igor VO fender-Os are hot fire on that bike. If only it had black sidewalls it would be 11/10.

I probably would have chosen black sidewalls but wanted to be 100% hands-off the decision making on this one. I emailed her all legit possibilities and let her pick what she wanted.
Now that I do see the tan walls on the bike I don’t completely hate it given that the accent color is already gold which is pretty close to tan.

So you gave your sup crabs?

lol. She picked out the crab from local guy that sells from a box full of valve caps with plastic animals, bugs & crustaceans. I was really pushing for clear/purple 12-sided die valve caps which would have looked so hot.
