What about I9 or Hope as well?
Though, my vote is as always for CK classics.

oh those Phil Wood freehub jawns explode constantly as soon as theyāre used outside the fop chariot rivendell land theyāre primarily sold in
people repeatedly sending their hubs/wheels back, getting them serviced or replaced entirely, and having em asplode again just the same, especially the hambeik ones
literally massive pieces of shit, exactly double the weight and double the price of White Industries, and not as strong
Fred, tell us how you really feel about Phil Wood hubs.

Seriously?
Yes, theyāre good. Good in the sense that youād be hard-pressed to find anything else burlier.
Hadley = best, atmo.
Agreed.
Iām thinking of buying these.
do it.
I have the ss version and they are just so nice. I have the tool kit, but in my 2.5 years of ownership they have only gotten better.
Mom + Pop shop too, at least it was?

I ripped a Hope literally to pieces once, so no go on there.
Iām going to troll the clydesdale MTB threads and see if I can scare up enough testimony to make them a risk worth taking over CK.
Dude, Hadley.
I wish I had a bike worthy enough for those Hadley hubs.
shit son, 325 shipped on those hubs?
OK I have a plan (for bike built around Hetre):
rim: 32h Pacenti TL28 650b
keeping it classy with: Novatec D712SB, black (135mm OLD, Campy disc hub) / SP Dynamo SD-8, black (clown bike version disc dynamo)
laced 3x: 273mm Sapim Laser and Race on rear DS just in case / 12mm brass nipples, all black
Thoughts? I donāt forsee trouble since these are going to be stubby little spokes all around. Sapim says no disc on Laser but internet says it is fine. The only time I ever broke one is by stepping on my front wheel and cutting/twisting a spoke with my cleat while messing up a cyclocross dismount. That was a proud moment in my life.
Why the hell would you bother putting weight weenie spokes on a 32h wheel that isnāt going to be light in any case? My experience with 1.5mm butted spokes is fuck 'em. They stretch too easily and make for a floppy wheel.
Youāre better off just doing cx-ray if you want to ball. Wheel will be stronger for it
CX Ray is too much money.
tru on 1.5 butting but the flip side is why go thicker if the Laser work (especially if Iām doing a 32 spoke 3x wheel)?
I had my doubts when lacing my cross wheels with them (terrible wind-up but I clamped spokes with pliers to alleviate that somewhat). Theyāve been great and the wheels feel good on bumpy terrain, which Iād attribute partly to to the spokes. Iād love to be shamed into beefier spokes tho.
Thereās lots of internet feedback on people using DT Revolution and Sapim Race on mountain bike wheels, too.
DT supercomp?
Good idea. A bit more money than Sapim but more durable. Just thought about packing the bike for air travel. Maybe Sapim race are better for it, heh
Just use real spokes and make the wheel as strong as possible coz itās not a fucking weight weenie build.
The notion that shitty spokes makes a wheel more comfortable to ride just blows me away. Fuck that shit. If the wheel isnāt comfortable then making the wheel weaker aināt the place to fix it.
