True dat. But here’s the thing. He didn’t have insurance (No auto cuz no car, no health cuz expensive). The guy who was driving the car didn’t have insurance. AND the guy who owned the car didn’t have insurance. So they caught the guy, but beyond throwing the driver’s ass in jail or garnishing his wages, there’s not a lot of justice to be had. And if you think about it, throwing the guy in jail means bills don’t get paid. Garnishing wages means the guy is still on the streets.
It sucks to say that if you ride a bike you should spend $500/year to stay insured, but obviously it is SO IMPORTANT that you spend the money to stay insured (which you can get, even without a car).
uh you should pretty much always have health insurance because you can always get absurdly expensively sick even when young.

Then of course I had to ask about the bike… apparently she just caught the outer edge of the door. Bike is fine. Just fell hard on her knee. Goddamn, I was so relieved that she’s okay and that she’s so hardcore.

- EDIT: I realize there are people with worse problems, and I’m happy that this didn’t happen while I was riding, which could have possibly resulted in personal injury. However, I can’t contain my fucking anger right now.
I locked the brand new, not even a week old Paramount out for not even 20 minutes while I met with a friend for a bite earlier today. Came back to find that someone, somehow, had dented my downtube. A combination of regret, surprise, bafflement, and anger quickly took over me. Couldn’t even think straight.
Didn’t even dare ride it back home because I didn’t know if the dent structurally compromised the frame. Just rode the subway with it to a certain point, then walked it back home. Every time I look at the dent, it makes me want to cry.
The fact that I don’t know who would do such a thing and why makes it even worse. Just sheer hatred for people in general is filling my head right now .
I mean… how the fuck does something like this even happen?! I can’t think of any way that this could have happened accidentally while the fucking bike was locked to a single post with no other bikes around it.
Did someone really U-lock the frame, hit it with something else, or kick it, just out of spite?! Is that even fucking possible?! What kind of fucking person does such a thing?!

I have seen something like that happen to my bike before. locked up to a post. a girl gets into a HUGE fight with her boyfriend and tries to pull her boyfriend off his motorbike. He evades her and takes off on the motorbike and she walks over to my bike and gives it a serious hardcore stomp. I screamed out “WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING” (in Mandarin) her friend grabs her and turns to me and apologize. I look at her face and it was totally bruised and cut up as is her body. Her face full of tears and she said sorry. I couldn’t get myself to get mad at her. She was probably having a much worse day than me.
