You're gunna hurt yourself: Carry Shit Olympics (aka the Cargo Bike thread)

Shit that’s a bummer. The bikes are locked to the rack in the bike room but thanks for the heads up.

Don’t want to be all doom-sayer, but if the bike room is secluded enough, folks could be in there at 2am with power tools and no one would notice. Hope your lock is big and your renter’s insurance is good.

Had that happen at my last nice new place in Seattle. Not my bikes, but it happened.

heh, I wish it was quick!

The Bullitt is very good at carrying guitars! My mom specifically saved that saddle cover for me. That was nice of her but I got a saddle sore just riding around in the alleyway behind the garage.

Todd’s old Epiphone Les Paul, Colin’s Yamaha acoustic and my old weird super heavy Ibanez Les Paul knockoff.
I’m not sure how Colin’s guitar wound up at my parents’ house. I met that guy in my twenties.

this might be worth a pretty penny!

yeah I am curious to see it as a non expert
isn’t there some mystique around the Ibanez LPs? like they sounded really good but we’re only made for a few years before C&D

I bought that thing for like $150 from the used section at Guitar Center and then beat the hell out of it playing punk shows. It weighs more that any other guitar I’ve ever hefted.
Edit: here it is in all its glory! This thing is a fuckin rhinoceros of a guitar! I don’t think this case has been opened in 20 years!

The main thing is the Japanese factories making clones had better qc than the OG factories in the states.

Mr uncle Ibanez that is cool as fuck and will make a good and very cool gift for your child who is definitely going to be a headbanger

If my plan is to stick it back in a closet for another ten years, should I like take the strings off or something?

Keep the strings on, loosen them a step or two. Strings help keep the neck doing its job.

Allan Shaw will be riding his absolutely wild titanium Omnium Cargo in the legendary Silk Road Mountain race in Kyrgyzstan this year.’

he’s a nice dude and i respect him a lot and also think poopbarning with a cargo bike is sick, but i really don’t know why you’d want to race on a cargo bike, lol

Jeez, the Omnium is an extremely annoying and difficult bike to maneuver while off the bike. If he has to hike a bike, he’ll be in a world of hurt. I can hardly think of a bike less well suited to moving fast over rough terrain than an Omnium.

Yea but sometimes people have to make their own mistakes

It’s a cool bike
It can carry stuff ok (up to about 50lbs comfortably)
But you’re mostly right

What if that dude has simply mastered the Omnium and y’all just suck at it.
