You're gunna hurt yourself: Carry Shit Olympics (aka the Cargo Bike thread)

That’s also very possible. I’ve seen video of people shredding some pretty unbelievable gnar on them but I can’t imagine it’s better or more fun than a standard poopbarn setup for a wild off-road race.

@EndpointBraden hi i miss you and I love your updates from dirtbags and congrats on the new beer collab even though you don’t drink.

Do you have an account (potentially?!) with larry vs harry?
Asking for myself.

If you’re gonna shell out for a Ti Wi Fi Omnium you should also pony up for a framebag that fits right

I’ll bet he’s sponsored by Brooks and is obligated to use their bad and stupid looking frame baggage.

My company bought a cetma cargo bike. Shit rode like a dead fish. The frame flexed like it was out of wet spaghetti even when empty and the steering was terrible. I can’t say exactly what about the geometry was wrong but it gave me appreciation for actual bike builders.

Yeah, that all tracks.

If a Cetma didn’t wobble or lag under load, is is really even a Cetma?

this is definitely the case. i wouldn’t mind the saddles, but their bags aren’t great. edit: i’ve never used one but they just look bad

I’m a full on b17 Standard cultist. It’s the only saddle I ride.:heart::heart: the b17 standard. Most of their bags and other “on trend” stuff like frame bags and whatnot looks terrible to me. No hate for Brooks.

I also love the B17 but I kinda think the special is worth it. Higher quality leather and the chamfered side skirts are nice, especially if your saddle is above your bars.

Lol well mine certainly ain’t.
I’ve had fancier Brooks saddles and really fancy Berthoud saddles, but I always come back to the b17 standard. Something about that saggy leather hammock just does my gooch right!

this past weekend some fellow dandy fopps argued passionately that the Berthoud was superior to Brooks. They sounded convincing but I’m not sure it’s worth spending $160 to find out if their right.

Wanna spend much less than that to try out a used one?
They are extremely nice saddles.

They don’t break down nearly as fast as the brooks leather saddles do. And maybe a little more comfortable beforehand? The first one I bought, years ago, arrived in the mail 20 minutes before I headed out on a 200, so of course I had to put it on the bike for the ride and it was perfect.

Copper rivets on the specials are the best part atmo.

Berts are fine and look really nice but that plastic “rear crescent” is so damn big that it was hard to find a position where I was sitting on leather and not that plastic.

I wish I could tolerate a B17 long enough to get it to break in and mold to my butt shape. It’s a comfortable saddle for me for about 10-15 miles but then I start to get sore and end up with bruising for a few days afterward.

I find the cantle way too narrow on most brooks-style saddles except the C19, so if you prefer wideway it is worth trying

For me it’s how far the plastic encroached into the seating area. The width of the Aravis I bought from Ferg seemed okay. The wider Aubisque would be interesting to try but not for more than 2x what a B17 costs.

If somebody wants a standard thin/race berthoud in black would you please buy the berthoud with a cutout, I’ll trade u skins

From my buddy Barry who’s looking to schlep grandkids:

"Our family is evaluating cargo style e-bikes for use in transporting young children. We are considering either an Avendon Abound or a Benno Boost model.

Does anyone have experience or thoughts regarding either of these e-bikes?"
