You're gunna hurt yourself: Carry Shit Olympics (aka the Cargo Bike thread)

I might join you. Haven’t been in love with the Thule I bought, and when I go to the nearby grocery store I leave it open and pile it high like a bucket already who cares

Buckets are uggo, but great for vermin resistance, water proofness, using as a camp stool and cutting board.

downside: someone can commandeer your panniers and start a drum circle

BRB heading to million dollar idea thread for my new djembe panniers.

And some alt-bars that double as a didge.

the didge straps to your top tube and it’s where your tent poles, devil sticks, and tenkara rod go

I saw a didge sticking out of a dumpster and had a lol the other day.

The opportunity for front and rear rack options is nice

I’m not sure it’s any less secure than the front end on a normal bike but I really want to safety wire that bolt that holds the steering linkage on

Did he paint his unfiled fillets gold?

Looks like he masked them.

or at least use a jet nut or flexlock instead of an acorn nut

hopefully he’s used loctite

also not stoked about the ball links at both ends of the steering linkage being off a single tab instead of sandwiched between two tabs

yeah single shear at an angle for something safety critical? :grimacing:

I think bullitt steering rods are single tabs on both ends. From memory the nuts are nylock though.

Correct on both counts. The linkage is definitely where the Bullitt will eventually fail me. Mark my words.

I just went out to the garage to grab something and startled a mouse who was eating Pirate’s Booty crumbs in the box on my Bullitt. :face_with_spiral_eyes::nauseated_face::face_vomiting:

if it makes you feel any better, there are ~7 company fleet bullitts that see daily use and the accompanying fleet vehicle abuse/neglect and i haven’t heard of a single issue tied to the linkage. including the one that has been in service since ~2016 which was in use 4-5 days a week for 8 hours each day for a few years

That’s good to hear. I’m mostly worried about corrosion. The wheel end of my linkage is getting mighty rusty.

i’ll check with our lead mechanic there but i’ve never heard of any issues via my local buddy who i am buddies with in real life through work or via my safety committee appointment

My linkage came loose early on, but after the shop tightened it up right it hasn’t been a problem.
