I totally regret giving my free radical kit to @Shiny_squid_green. It would be on Ash’s bike right now!
Surly sells a special hitch for the BD that looks pretty solid but it does drive the price up
Shart, is it this? I’m logging potentials. looks like it makes the whole situation even longer
Edit: has anyone tried this off-road?
Yeah that’s the hitch I’m thinking of. I have zero experience with it but it would give you the longest bike imaginable.
I think @EndpointBraden has shredded some gnar on his Big Dummy but not really as a cargo bike
I rode a lot of stupid trails on my Xtracycle and still regret selling it. If I was going on a long tour and needed cargo space a BD would be my first choice
is that what we’re calling meth now? because that looks like a tweaker
at first i was so excited to see another clydesdale in town. then i took a closer look. the amount of exposed tube of some sort is impressive. i don’t think i’ve ever seen an fwd weed whacker conversion
Did he diy a Clydesdale so he could steal wetsuits?
2wd sounds fun but the tube loosely wrapped on the chainstay is giving me anxiety…
Ah, the Christini model!
i sort of regret never stopping into their shop in philly
I sorta did actually hurt myself on this one. Knees really feeling it. Not sure if it’s the insane q factor or just haven’t dialed in the fit yet.
3yo’s first bikepacking trip about 13 miles out to a local campground. He maybe liked some parts of it? I maybe only lost my mind a few times.
Well shit I’ve been thinking about a cargo bike to complement my new job situation…about a 6 mile MUP ride to Waylon’s school then another 1/2 mile to work. Xtracycle has a $1,000 off sale right now and the RFA was pretty much at the top of my list. Can’t decide if I’d be happy with the class 1 (probably) or spend the extra $500 for the class 3 version. Help me Tarck bear?
I am rarely going 20mph on my electric longtail. I don’t think the Class 3 is necessary. I looked at the site and both models appear to have the same torque anyway?
I mean on one hand that extra 8mph in perfect conditions could save me 5 minutes, on the other hand I don’t think I’d be comfortable riding with my kid that fast, and on the third hand I’d be an asshole tearing up the MUP that fast. Just worried about class 3 fomo.
Edit: the class 3 uses a STEPS EP6 and the class 1 uses an EP8…which seems to be a better motor??
I’ve got a class 1 rfa and it’s fine unless you’re going downhill or trying to keep up with cars.
Same as stabby. The only time I want more is in traffic or downhills. Otherwise I don’t notice it.
What’s the deal with downhills? Just pedaling a heavy ass bike? Do you love your RFA?
ya hit the motor assist limit and you’re stuck at 19.5 mph when you can’t go faster because of wind resistance when the motor cuts out.
