How much does a keg weigh? bob trailers can carry a ridiculous amount of weight as long as it fits and does tear the mesh deck off (the latter is slowly happening to mine; who’d think that repeatedly carrying 100+ pound loads might start pushing the limits of what a yak can carry?)
Kinda depends on what kind of keg. A “half” keg, biggest you could get at the liquor store, is like 15 gallons and ~160 lbs full. I typically use 2x “1/6” kegs that are ~60lbs each when full.
My perennial problem is that the liquor store is only like 2 miles away from my house. Hauling the empty kegs would be easy as pie! I think that hauling the full ones back home in my Dummy bags would technically be in their as-new limits but seems to invite all kinds of potential problems.
The long Surly trailer has a limit of 300 lbs so it would be perfect but it seems easier to just take the car at that point since I have one
I would not hesitate for a moment to haul 120lbs of keg balanced evenly on either side of an xtracycle, let alone a stiffer big dummy. 2 miles with my 140lb spouse on the back is wiggly but absolutely fine, and thats way up high, not down in the bags.
But I don’t have a car.
60 pounds in an xtra bag should be fine. Before @toast gave me his bob, I’d carry that sort of weight per bag on my xtra on a regular basis.
I once carried 260lbs of scrap brass plumbing fittings in several five gallon buckets to the recycling place on my xtracycle. It was an interesting experience for sure, but totally doable.
I’ve done this repeatedly on many different brackets and lights
the middle tooth will just snap off by prying in the slot with a screwdriver for all the aluminum anodized doodads
Or just use this.
I believe I don’t have the stack for that. Was my first thought.
The gopro thing will also allow me to buy an extension to cantilever the light forward to get it out of the cargo danger zone.
It absolutely will, and I have one I cut like that I have no use for if you can wait a week or two for me to ship it out to you.
Guhhhhh…
I have been spending so much money lately. If they drop the price at all I may be able to justify it. I have not been a big fan of UA but this would technically be replacing a motorcycle…
Nothing like a tall & sloshy load to put the fear of g-d into me and all the cars that took the other lane to pass me on the way to goodwill yesterday afternoon
I wouldn’t buy a used UA with no accessories for that price.
There’s a used manual Larry vs Harry for $1800 local I could electrify but I hear they are not so great for hauling kids. Glad I don’t have the garage space either way
It’s got a few accessories but I agree, it’s not a run-to-the-bank deal.
Weirdly, getting it home would get weird. I’d have to ride it, which isn’t a big deal, but it looks like it is 18 miles away in a part of town that doesn’t have great bike connectivity with my part of town. I’m sure I’d figure it out but sort of an odd thing to consider when bike shopping lol
Imo I think non zappy larry vs harry products are great for kid moving if you want a cargo bike. Not sure what the criticisms you’ve heard are?
They’re maybe not the best electric motorcycle (mainly because no suspension) but thats a different deal IMO.
Yeah, mine has been great for child moving. I have zero complaints about it in that regard.
They’re great for one kid or two small kids, we graduated to a big dummy after my oldest turned 9.
I was thinking the urban arrow since it has seats and the bullet is just a box? Either way I’ve already got an Xtracycle so I SHOULDNT buy it…
My Bullitt has seats and seatbelts for two kids. I added a tether point on the bottom of the box to clip to the chest tie in point of the dog’s harness. I have the most basic Badger box.
Where else can you get a bike box and a ukulele made by the same person?
