You're gunna hurt yourself: Carry Shit Olympics (aka the Cargo Bike thread)

TC biggest reason I’m replacing the stock tires is because they look ridiculous atmo

they weigh like 5kgs each, too

as opposed to the svelte 4kg of a Schwable utility commuting tire

My Lorry is on a lorry!

The box for the thing is so damn big, 62" x 40" on the big sides, minimal assembly required tho (bars, pedals, kickstand, rack).

Good to know. Thanks.

IN THE DIRTY DYT

Mine has been sitting in Portland “Pending” for a couple days now.

Tire chat, my Bullitt came with marathons and they seem like real nice tires.

Lorry arrived today, I spoke with Fedex dispatch and had them strip the pallet as well as send the smallest truck, which was still laughably large for both my street and the 3 items inside. have not assemble yet, waiting on big apples from Universal

I just noticed that I’ve got some 20" power blocks from my first sundeal and some 26" power blocks on my univega. I’m set to go when this thing shows up.

Schwalbe gets a bad rep around here because they make a lot of heavy ass tires, which is true, but I at least feel like they are nice tires in spite of being heavy

I have a set of Big Apples I want to put on my Big Dummy but I’m trying to wear out the stock Maxxis? tires

Schwalbe’s are heavy but considering they are basically bullet proof they ride pretty fucking nice. Tarck talked shit to me for years for riding gatorskins for work but ya know what, they’re damn good considering their wear and puncture resistance!

There are a lot of dogshit tires out there that won’t stand up to a staple or some glass but also ride like rubber hoses. Sure, they MSRP for $20 but hey, just carry a few $9 tubes on you and it’s fine.

I’d love to run some Maxxis Hookworms on my Clydesdale because I still have a bike boner for those tires from my bike polo days but I know they ride like you’re in shit soaked sand.

My regular marathons on the Bullitt are like 5 years old I think. No punctures yet

Edit: will report back later today when I get my first puncture in it

I should say that in the ten or so years that big apple was on my xtracycle, I never flatted it one single time. Gonna keep using it on the voodoo clyde.

I put finish line sealant in the tube in the marathons on my Bulitt. Just in case.

I have mismatched schwalbes on the cargo, front 20" is some ebike specific one even, the bike is already heavy and do I want to deal with flats on it? No. They’re perfect.

big apples on the tandem cru checking in. tandem carries more load than a lot of cargo bikes

Is this where the tarck sea changes to like marathons?

I had a set of marathons years ago that I used for like 2 years on a commuter and I never got a flat

i buy marathon pluses by the thousand

I think we can all agree that marathons are better than armadillos

Well the armadillos I had a million years ago we’re by far the worst tires I’ve ever ridden. Turned me off of spesh tires for over a decade.
