This is what I’m saying. I would have blown a gasket if I reacted every time I encountered a salmon on the MUP. If you can’t beat em, and you can’t, join em.
Salmon are just inviting you to play a game of chicken!
Gf decided to drag us to weirdness in ct. I don’t know what it’s for or who’s paying for it or why anyone cares. Was shocked that nobody tried to get us to join the cult. I want my afternoon back
nice, have you been to Glass House in CT?
That was the morning
what is Weirdness in CT?
internet search did not provide much
Grace farms
Hated everything about it
It’s not that weird, it’s just a wealthy person’s vanity project.
it’s weird that people want to go there. it’s weird that it can’t possibly be sustainable business model. it’s obscene to use that much money to not really achieve anything.
There was an article in the NY Post about Forest Hills, Queens residents complaining about new Citibike docks…
one of the last redoubts of real new yorkers
Is it because they claim to have achieved something or to be a business? Or is it more like art or the post office or bike share or church that aren’t trying to be profitable but provide some other thing people seem to like in their world?
it feels like an expensive outdoor mall with no stores. there is a gym with some kids playing vollyball and grounds to wander around and a very full aquarium full of people drinking free tea. when we got to the “Library” we were all ok now we’re going to see it but it was just some innocuous new agy spiritual stuff and a bunch of expensive architecture books. it just doesn’t have a purpose except to get some architects paid. wasn’t worth diffing the materials out of a mountain.
per Sharon Prince,
“I wanted to build a hopeful place,” Sharon recounts. “I envisioned Grace Farms not just as a destination, but as a catalyst to advance good in the world, a place rooted in beauty, nature, and architecture. The 80 acre property was slated to become a residential subdivision, but I was committed to preserving the land and creating open space where beauty, community, and purpose could converge. A place that would have far-reaching impact.”
her husband Bob Prince is chair of the board at the Bridgewater Associates, a giant investment firm, who knows what kind of dark money they’ve funnel into or written off using it.
it’s a private owned public space that people who live around (community) can gather at. they do concerts and shit
it’s a nimby temple!
When you’re rich you can just do that kind of stuff. Your motive is simply your whim.
Or perhaps as duster says, they needed a tax write off, want to sit on this land but not pay taxes for it, or some other financial scheme.
