All things NuMTB thread, now lower longer and slacker

Yeah, we were going to Thunder mtn in MA and I must have been futzing them beforehand (bleed?). But during the 6 hour drive, the bolt rattled out and about .25mile into first run the rear pads fell out. Did sad ride down lift, but was able to toss saints in there and keep riding.

I had to re-learn how to ride bike this weekend

Not until sometime after this did I remember how jumpz work

i need a fullface but freakin proframes are sold out everywhere

Troy Lee, 100%, and Leatt came out with some pretty nice looking hamlets that are competitors to the Proframe. Those might be easier to get in Roolandia.

There’s also the new Sweet Protection that Katy Winton smashed her head into a rock while wearing and still finished the race.

TLD

Hund-P

Leatt

SP

I ordered 3 or 4 on Amazon and kept the one that fit best. Turned out it was the 100% Trajecta, though I really wanted it to be the Leatt. Way better fit and finish (but not actually fit).

The pro frame is a little sus based on anecdotal reports, the insane number of vents (ie holes to be poked through), and how damn little it weighs.

Proframes work pretty fuggin good.

Would say walked away from this, and she was ambulatory, but no head issues.

I got some maxxis aspen tires after riding the same pair of ardents for like six years. Aspen is an amazing tire! They roll so much better which is not a surprise, but they also grip really well in corners, even on like a rock sand mix.

i think assegais are what i’m tryin next F+R

Speaking of crashing in your pro frame, the thing that ultimately made me decide against it is the shitty or nonexistent crash replacement policy.

Old but probably accurate:

HELMET CRASH REPLACEMENT PROGRAMS
Kali: Ship your busted helmet in, we ship you a new replacement free, you pay shipping.
POC: 40% off
Sweet: 40%, 3 years
IXS: Wholesale price for replacement, usually around 40% with pics
Giro: Lifetime, up to 30%
Bell: Probably same as Giro
Smith: 2 years, 30% off replacement
Troy Lee: 1 year, 30% off new replacement
Kask: 1 year, 25% off
Lazer: 25% off MSRP
Mavic: No set crash replacement policy, contact us for possible 20-25% discount towards replacement
Leatt: We don’t have an actual program
Contact us for a possible discount
Fox: No set program. Case by case, 20% max after you ship the helmet in at your own cost.
Catlike: As best as I can find, no official replacement policy. Definitely difficult customer service to deal with

What are these, road tires?

I’ve very much been into my Michelin Wild Enduros but seems like you can’t go wrong with Assguys?

Tire-related story: I was messing with my tire and suspension pressures this weekend while trying to remember how this all works. I have Schrader valves on this bike so couldn’t really release air from the valves with my gloved hands. I was using rock flints or sticks to press the valve. Well, I guess I pebble-in-the-valve’d myself because a couple of minutes after lowering the front pressure, my tire sounded super grippy. It turns out that I was basically riding downhill as normal with a completely deflated tire, over roots, rocks, etc
Rim inserts rule. Probably good that I stopped like 30 feet before a significant huck though!

basically. the “mountain bike” race course here is doable on a cyclocross bike, just maybe 10% slower.

I’m intrigued by them, probably buying a 2.6 gum-x set for my Swoop!

I just threw a 2.6 Bontrager XR5 Team Issue on the front of my Rip9. Anyone ridden that? Looks just like every other block lug moto style tire out there. Picked it from the limited selection at local shop.

Like someone over at “moster-energy-flatbrim-cap-forums” said: “cool of Fox to go the route of Specialized’s public relations”:

The Specialized thing was a little different. They were going after derivative names. Slik is literally using the Fox logo for profit.

This was good, though I thought weird they didn’t state their names at all.
I guess I missed when PB pushed it out there.

Will keep this away from sup for quite a while. I think she was having some PTSD when we watched a video with RĂ©my MĂ©tailler and the privateer dude riding, and the Remy’s POV of adam doing a drop looked sketchy that I even felt it.

Yeah, as much as I want to root for the little guy here, it seems like you should ask permission before printing anyone else’s logo and selling it.

Slik has been doing aftermarket decals for basically every big suspension brand since 2007, they provide numerous pro teams with stuff. Both WC DH, EWS teams and pro XC teams.

I find it really really petty by Fox to threaten them with a “cease and desist” after +10 years of co-existing. It’s just pennys we are talking about on the whole for Fox

Yes I know they have to “fight” for their tm or they will lose it.
They should really just have come to an agreement with Slik.
