Day 1 at the bike park this year. Repeating “don’t do anything stupid” over and over to myself.
Round 1 complete. Took fork from 80 to 75 psi. Now to go to jump trail. Pray for mojo.
Is this what they call moon dust?
Where’d you go?
Pretty dusty! Some trails I rode yesterday had spots that felt like riding into a down pillow, tire sunk in up to the rim, dust erreywhere.
Windham. Unlike creek, there’s plenty of hiking and camping around here, and it’s not New Jersey!
But also I like it because I’ve not seen it busy ever and miles of gravity logic smooth jumpz on the jump trail.
crazy to think that i’ve been overusing this phrase for over two decades now.
Word. Citizen’s DH is a fun track. World cup has some legit parts (duh). I do remember the jump trail being pretty fun. And def not that busy. Maybe next year when sup is whole again and we have mtb park pass we might make it back up there.
I wrecked myself on citizens last October. Just a carpet of leaves on the whole thing. Magically did not get hurt going otb. Luckily it is closed for work now so I can’t give it a rip!
I’m thinking of your lady every time I get on my bike. Can’t prevent injuries in a risky activity but something something trying to be mindful everywhere I can.
I have been to Windham for skiing and thought it was quite nice and wished I’d had a bike
moon dust is what happens to our bike parks if we get a dry spell…
i wish i had a photo of what we looked like after our park day on sat. it rained the night before, then rained in the morning, then dumped in the afternoon. i was too wet to get out my phone though.
so much mud and sand all over everything. my shoes are probably still wet.
7 laps, rear wheel almost rubbing out of true and shifting all jacked up by the end of it. I did a proper day!
How much vert is a lap there?
Looks like 1300 ft.
Looks like we did 7 in 2018 when we went, too. Too bad sup was riding oversprung dh bike that was also kinda tiny. Quickly got her out of wanting one. Then got Strega instead and loves it.
I imagine it was similar to my first lap. My hands were getting hammered until I lowered the fork pressure. No idea how I was riding it so high. Something something really hot out and last time I dialed it in the ambient temps were in the 50s? (I think people have told me this isn’t a thing on numerous occasions now)
It was nice going back with tire inserts and a rear suspension that doesn’t feel dead. The last few laps I was checking my speed way before jumps and then taking my fingers completely off the brake levers really early. Helped smooth out my takeoffs for some reason.
getting heat stroke just listening to the premise
It looks like Rocky Mountain gave up on matching the original paint on the recalled front triangles. I’m going to miss the root beer color and I’m not a big fan of how matte paint wears. Oh well, Surly grey it is.
I know he is a professional athlete and whatnot but man I would feel a little bad about myself if I got passed on a road climb by a dude on a downhill bike.
And I most definitely would have been one of the people getting passed.
Also I’ve either temporarily or permanently misplaced my goggles, and was using Oakley EVZERO with my full face, which was surprisingly nice if not intensely fredly (or some “enduro” meme lol)
