Any other silly little rulers like this? Do I have to find a metric ruler I enjoy the aesthetics of and chop it down?

looks kind of like a scale ruler

Scott bikes come with a sag indicator that clips on to the sanction. Not a ruler but pretty handy. I always just eyeball it then fine tune by feel.

Stolen pic.

I guess all I want is a nifty little metric metal ruler stub.

I just bought this guy to keep in my apron pocket:

Just purchased one after posting, thanks.

Holy hell, the Pychosis dh track looked frightening(ly steep). Bet they were never so happy to see a catch berm come up.
Also lol at an uphill run.

@frank_doktor: I’m so stoked for the replay, hoping for better coverage (camera vise) than what we got in Silverstar.

Ben Cathro being a real lad and inviting in some local folks to first build and then ā€œnot raceā€ a DH-track, 30 well spent minutes!!

love the run in the middle

they had to get off their bikes. they’re just like us!

It looks like the field was pretty split with enduro bikes. I was surprised Miranda Miller didn’t go for the DH rig.

Atmo,
There’s too much winging going on in other parts of the forum about folks gathering in groups and not wearing masks for this kind of stuff to get a pass just because it’s cool downhill stuff. I looked it up and it doesn’t seem like they’re in a bubble or anything like NBA is trying. Or am I missing something.

Maybe you did, from the Crankworx web:

With no spectators, remote production, and strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place, the CCSS’ #1 priority will be to ensure rider, staff and community safety. But with restrictions easing as a part of Phase 3 of BC’s Restart Plan, the risk of resurgence is real. That’s why the CSS is taking every precaution with procedures to protect all involved.

With this in mind, the series will be following these five steps to safe competition:

  1. Closed Events
  • CCSS events are made-for-TV, with spectators encouraged to tune in from home.
  1. Limited Numbers
  • These invite-only events will be limited to 25 invited athletes, along with minimizing the number of staff, suppliers and volunteers on-site.
  1. Tracing and Monitoring
  • Contact tracing 14 days out, and daily throughout.
  • Daily temperature and symptom checking.
  1. Distancing and Disinfecting
  • All resort community guidelines and provincial health guidelines will be strictly adhered to.
  1. Isolated Travel
  • All participants will travel in pre-arranged groups."

Particularly BC. They had travel restrictions that most seemed to oblige (don’t leave your area, and of course no 'mericans coming in). Only moving recently into stage 3 did they allow travel like this from different parts of BC.

All of the riders selected live in BC, too.

I’ve been putting on this DJ stream from Berlin when I cook and it is so weird to see people interacting for the most part normally in the background. Like, yes, you can have nice things if you have an actual government.

The downhill Southeast races that have been happening though… Those seem a lot less cool.

But like their podiums were totally socially distanced.

per what the others said… invite only race in an area with low numbers, participation is solo, no spectators, no racers from outside the area, etc. seems extremely safe. not getting a pass because it’s ā€œcool downhill stuffā€ but because it’s a responsibly run event.

See cross thread:

Been dithering about a hard tail build for literally years. Finally just got my name down for a steel honzo this fall (not in stock right now). i think the new geo should work for my needs. I went with med, so it’ll be a bit smaller than i’m used to, but prob more fun that way. 66 HTA with 450mm reach with a 140mm fork. Never wanted to pull the trigger on the old honzo since it was designed around a 120mm fork and 68 HTA.

I got a few months to get parts together…

I went out to Browns Camp today for some less-populated XC action. The ride started off with passing a big pile of trash bear poo, probably full of camp garbage. It’s been a couple years since I’ve ridden that loop. I forgot about the techy climb in the middle.

Then I headed over to Storey Burn Trail and found this pre-NWTA relic:

I can’t remember if I’ve ever ridden that trail before, but it would have been gnarly on an old rigid MTB.
