I would have if I’d thought of it, that’s for sure. My paint is all fucked up there.
Yep. I have booth my Swoop and Switchback taped up pretty much att all rub points, including top tube wear your dirty ass pants scrape it when it’s muddy outside.
anthem is partly messed up from throwing it in the back of my Subaru with other bikes rubbing on it and i don’t think tape will stop that, maybe i’ll throw a rug over it. not buying a bike rack.
i still haven’t ridden the damn thing coz of rain!
options like all mountain frame protector could work for that, too.
I keep a moving blanket in the back of my wagon for bikes and etc
Somehow I did not know this existed. Thanks!
bit more spendy than 3m tape but i only bought 1m of the stuff so i’ll probably end up ordering one of these when i get some 5 10s from local mtbro store
In other news, this weekend I also tested out the USWE Explorer 26 pack.
I don’t like waist belts and tuck my Osprey’s behind me anyhow. Thought this would be great.
- There is no port for the water bladder hose
- You’re supposed to drop the water bladder between the pack and the shoulder frame (confirmed with USWE in email today). But because the bag relies on super-gripping your chest to brace itself, it’s like dropping a bundle of rags under your shirt, and then strapping a backpack over that; you’re basically squeezing the fuck out of the bladder the whole time - with your torso - and exacerbating a bad backpack fit . No bladder failure yesterday but frankly it’s just a matter of time with this BS.
- You can’t fucking breathe because the pack is compressing the shit out of your chest.
Maybe this would be better for someone without big man-chest. I had every strap let out to max. I’m a big guy but I’m not THAT big. This thing was fucking awful. I was so stoked and 10 mins into using it I was ready to burn it. If it hadn’t been my only water source yesterday I would have left it on off the trail for pickup on the return. It was terrible.
This weekends ride up Pilchuck Xmas Tree Farm was beautiful and the trails were super fun and flowy but between the pedals and this bag I was pretty miserable even on this short ride.
Yeah, sounds like a technique issue. Controlling the back of the bike with flat pedals is just different. The first few times I rode with them, I felt like I was gonna lose the bike at all times, but I never, ever lose my pedals these days. It took me a few weeks to get the hang of it. 10 years in, I never think about it ever.
That said, being clipped in is faster, all other things being equal, and there’s no way to get the back of the bike as light as with clipless pedals.
The bumpy trail issue never fully goes away, but if you’re ever losing a foot off in the air, that seems 110% technique and worth figuring out before you hurt yourself.
Drop your heels and dig those feet into the pedals.
This.
It also helps if you adopt a more arch-over-spindle position.
Lol this was a little dramatic and is not true. idk why I said that.
maybe get the initial transition done on a bike you ride around town
Not a bad idea. I should start riding around town.
Aw, damn, the trance advanced 1 is now backordered. I didn’t need it at the end of the month, but was getting excited about possibly getting it.
Oh, and Trump’s fucking tariff war bumped the price about $150 at prodeal cost.
The tariff is a straight 25% on import cost. Crazy.
Yes, this is accurate.
Old news, but all the alloy models (like the blue one in the Habit vid) get a BSA bb. I’m really partial to the blue alloy frame here myself

this is me
this is all of us. Except the part about keeping up. I can’t keep up with anyone and never have.
