This is so fucking disgusting.
How ever you slice it, Bex had been with Yeti for 2 years (the length of her signed contract it looks like) and finished 5th overall and took home the WC stripes last season. Then for Yeti not to sign her on for the next season or however many seasons the new contract would run for reeks AF.
Throwing hella money on Richieās proto one off DH bike and all that jazz but having one of the best enduro racers and personalities in EDR/EWS/MTB on is to much ![]()
Edit: I see your comment above while I was typing.
Can you fil in some background/context for me, like is there more drama to this?
I found this pinkbike article and checked the comments but didnāt see anything more, beyond the obvious yes it sucks that sheās losing her job while seemingly performing at a high level.
I just find the whole thing kinda endemic, gross and fucked. EWS/EDR women racers in particular getting cut while performing at the top lever. Lex Katy Winton etc
Hello fellow ditherers. I have this Rockshox shock that uses positive and negative tokens, as seen here:

Thing needs tuning. It ramps up too quickly. Bottom out is maybe OK.
Rockshox tells me:
Positive Bottomless Tokens reduce volume in the positive air chamber of the air spring, which causes the air spring curve to ramp up at the end of the travel to make it harder to bottom out. Negative Tokens reduce volume in the negative air chamber of the air spring, which causes the air spring to feel firmer at the beginning of the travel and more linear at the end of the travel to make it easier to achieve bottom out. See the RockShox Setup and Tuning Guide for best practices for setting air pressure, High Speed Compression, Low Speed Compression, and tuning with air can Tokens.
Anyone messed with the +/- token shocks yet? I guess my main question is whether I can use both kinds of tokens at once.
Serial number for my shock tells me:
Compression tune | LC
Volume reducer | 0 Neg 1 Pos
Check Tune | 0 - Light
Seems like this one has a very light tune, which I take to mean not the tune I want for making the trail that I prefer to ride on my bigger travel bike fun on this 120mm bike.
Please share your armchair recommendations and also school me on this newfangled rockshox token setup.
Ok hereās me answering my own question, which leads to more questions.
Tokeān section here is the answer:
And the new question is trying to figure out what my compression tune is supposed to feel like relative to the other possibilities.
These shim stacks got me like

Anyone know what LC, L1, and L mean? One would think this explanation would be in the tuning doc, but it aināt.
Does this mean anything to anyone?
My understanding is more big shims = more resistance/damping, yeah?
Iāve never messed with tuning at that level. This might help you? Itās an Excel sheet that does the calcs for tuning stacks.
I think Iām just gonna email rockshox and ask what LC, L1 and L mean. I donāt need to get super deep into it.
says the guy who is emailing rockshox
I draw the line at custom shim stack! I am however willing to modify my shim stack to another stock tune.
Man I took this thing up the local hill set to recommended baseline pressures this afternoon. Saddle did a number on my right thigh as I hung on for dear life. Took literally 20 psi out of my fork 3/4 of the way down (what I had it set to before today lol).
It seems difficult for me to tune 120mm shocks. With bigger shocks the extra cushion masks a not great setup. But these little guys? Nope!
Are you using the recommendations printed on the fork, ones suggested by the bike company, or the ones on RockShox Trailhead?
Have you tried the Shockwiz?
Iād like to try shockwiz.
So the rear shock was ok with the recommended settings from trailhead.
Unfortunately the fork settings I used came out of the paper ātuning guideā that the Fox 34 SC came with.
What bike is this again? Is it that open mold thing or something with more comprehensive setup? Iād try and find something with similar angles/travel that specs the same fork and look at their setup guides. Some of the recommendations like sag should translate enough to give some direction. Some of these seem pretty bang on. Weāve had really good luck with what Pivot and Ibis provide for setup on their bikes. Iād take a look at what Pivot recommends for setup on the M4SL in 120 travel.
Iāve got a shockwiz somewhere, Iād loan it to you.
Yeah this is what made me look at the tune on the shock. If LC is the lightest compression tune in the rockshox deluxe ultimate then it is probably not the right one for me and this bike that has geo identical to my enduro bike but less travel. I remember looking at fox shocks and thinking that the pivot Mach 4 ones would match this bike well, but I donāt think that I ever found a similar bike with this new RS shock. After this ride I think that my fork actually feels fine.
Ahh⦠I got confused, I thought you were saying the fork was the issue. Yeah shock tunes are mysterious. Holler if you want to try the shockwiz.
Iām not sure if this will answer your question, but I found a photo of the NS Synonym on Pinkbike that showed the Fox tune ID;
DZYN
2020 Series FLOAT Remote
Part number: 972-04-634
Description: 2020, FLOAT DPS, F-S, K, Remote Down, Trunnion, Evol LV, PTU, NS Bikes, Synonim, 165, 42.5, 0.6 Spacer, DCM, DRM, CMF, Neutral Logo
DCM is Digressive Compression Medium.
DRM is Digressive Rebound Medium.
If you shock currently has a L tune from RS, you might try a M tune to get closer to the NS spec.
My anecdotal reading indicates that LC is the lightest of them all. It seems to go: LC, L1, Lā¦
@EndpointBraden I can see why you thought that since it is basically what I wrote! I guess I was describing progress more than complaining. I think that putting the pressure way up on the shock and flipping the +/- compression damping switch to less damping got the shock in the ballpark. I didnāt feel my feet blowing off the pedals or the rear end bouncing/bottoming out. Still definitely want to play with a shockwiz as Iāve got a long way to go.
I know nothing about suspension setup but my new XL Trance feels a lot better than my old L.
Much more composed going downhill, but itās going to take some time to get used to how it feels on tighter trail sections.
Also I didnāt notice this until I was at the trail ![]()
Budget full suspension recs? Iāve never had one, donāt know what to look for or what travel to focus on, but they sound fun and thereās a ton of trails here.
