Juin as well, in their famous cable to hydraulic way
iâve never even heard of this brand
pretty common budget option for making cable brake levers do a disc brake
Back when gravel bikes sucked
So i finally got my ebike wheel back from my ex and he says the reason i keep fucking it up is because they used 2.0/1.5/2.0 spokes (i checked it with my calipers). On top of the fact that itâs a 28 spoke wheel. That seems real weenie for an ebike?!
Yes. That is V dumb. I had a guy with a 28h Reserve wheel that came on his SC Ebike. Nothing but trouble. They gave up and sent him a 32 h rim and we laced it up with DT alpines. Heâs been good ever since.
The 28h OEM wheel (usually from Trek or Specialized) is infuriating. No chance itâs not just a shitty cost saving move.
The specs say it comes with Sapime âE-liteâ rear spokes and Sapim Race front spokes. But both front and rear, the thinner section of the spokes measures like 1.52-1.57ish on every spoke (my calipers are pretty cheap so i checked quite a few). Sapim race say theyâre 2.0/1.8/2.0. Is there anyway they just used the wrong spokes? ran out of the right ones?
Just feels odd to me. Theyâre thinner than the spokes on any one of my other bikes. I canât find any info online about Sapim e-lite spokes existing, so must be an OEM thing.
Iâm not sure what spokes came on my reserves, but they are def 1.65 in the center and consistency measured 1.63-1.68 on my calipers. Those have been fine for me for trail use, but I am sure they would fair differently on an bike.
When did you buy the bike? If it was during Covid supply chain problem times, I can easily imagine an on the fly change to the wrong spokes because better than nothing.
âSapim E-Lite spokes with 2.3mm heads and brass nipples for added durability.â
Weird they donât have them on their site, but maybe because it is an OEM thing.
I bought it like 6 months ago, so itâs a basically brand new bike.
If youâre not on Pinkbike, this is a pretty cool teaser for some of the Oregon coast trail systems. The Insta360 really changes up the self-shot game.
Whatâs the consensus on the sub-$100 SRAM brakes that Universal is blowing out?
I had 1 set of srams and they had to be refreshed every spring cause the juice evaporates (?)
I spent way too much time on ebay a bunch of years ago buying clearance XT brakes. I have them on like 4 bikes.
someone on here convinced me to try cheap shimanos and the mt-2000âs are easier to work with than my XTâs (maybe new xtâs got better too?)
Thanks. The only thing I donât like about the entry level, wet Shimano brakes is their long levers. Might just go with BL-MT501/BR-MT500 instead.
They are long.
I have those levers on my Jones with different calipers and theyâre good other than they make a slightly clicky sound when operated. I think itâs coming from the reach adjust mechanism in the lever. Still, would buy again.
That clicky sound is annoying as hell. I think your hypothesis is correct, btw.
It is, thankfully it only annoys me when Iâm not riding the bike.
The front Code brake on my main bike is asking for a bleed for the third time in as many months as the brake lever creeps closer to the bars on every successive ride. If I hadnât audited 3 months of my credit card use last night, Iâd be ordering new brakes this week (though those brakes might be Mavens
).
