Seems pretty decent for the price. They should do a collabo with Ra-Duh-Vist and charge $150 for it.
@capn_FANCYpants got me one of those for secret snowflake. It’s awesome for liquor store runs on the noodle-basket-bike, but I wouldn’t trust it in a downpour.
Got one of these on JBI closeout. Seems to be really awful but acceptably so for the price.
So tarck baggers
I got Grand Bois bag clips to hold my acorn down on a mark’s rack. They’re great in theory but one side always pops out within around 30 km of riding. The other one is secure. Is there anything i can do besides ask GB for another?
note: even with the flaky side, these things are a massive improvement over the Acorn velcro system.
Well shit, looks like I bought my Ozette 2 months too soon.
Having a feedbag on back rather than a pocket would be
wut
The bungee assembly can be configured in a few different ways and that’s how they deal with changing the cord length. Not the most elegant solution ATMO.
I do really love how they have the hooks on the sides of the box now. Easy to “batten down the hatches” when riding over rough stuff. Typically I pull the center of the bungee over the stem/steerer bolts then hook the two edges near that washer and it keeps all my stuff pretty secure in the main compartment.
I’ve been thinking about getting a 3rd XL Ozette made with the new molle feedbag pockets. The normal pockets are so small that they are basically unusable, especially since I now have a gigantic cell phone.
They should have integrated a little loop of webbing under the flap but along the edge to push the knotted cord through instead of that washer under the map case
If there’s one thing rando bags need more of, it’s fussy little doodads
Long term goal is to convince swift that they need to do away with the bungee cord / hook system and get some of these magnetic closures:
Bungee cord closures don’t need quite as much fiddling when closing up an overstuff bag.
I should futz with my Ozette to use that bungee config, usually end up leaving the top unfastened because it’s a pain to reach down through all the mess of pockets and decaleur and rookie cable routing to that hook on the back.
They really ought to get rid of the side pocket or sew a top flap to secure it
I would rarely ever use it for anything other than food wrappers
Yeah probably getting rid of it is a better idea

How does Tarck feel about the Swift Paloma?
My (albeit small) rando crü here all use the Bertoud 715 (8.6L) Klickfix mount bag and the size and detachment seems convenient…but I’ve not yet been 300€ tempted to try NoRackLyfe.
Just noticed swift has the Paloma on sale. It’s smaller than the Bertoud (6L), thinking about picking one up for bikes with no rack
We sell more of these than anything else at Outpost. People like them. Just enough room for the type of ride one would go on using a bike that can’t use something larger.
Only downside is that it severely complicates mounting a headlight.
I really hate that bracket for some reason. It’s just so clunky looking. Is it actually nice to use?
Posting my reviews of all the bike bags I’ve used:
Lone Peak front panniers - liked the classic fred look, but had a lot of issues. The plastic hooks were too small for my front rack (Tubus Tara). The internal plastic stiffener that holds the hooks cracked. A rat chewed through the bottom to get to my snacks. Felt cheap and didn’t hold up.
Roadrunner Drafter - love them. Lost a clip and they’re sending me a new one with another bag order. Great service, good feel.
Ortlieb Bikepacker Plus - good quality, and truly waterproof. These things didn’t wear or age at all on tour. However, having the bags be one big container is annoying for organization. Fit my rack well. Ugly.
Acorn medium rando - my most used bag. Somehow never bought the rack they’re supposed to be used with so it was always just velcroed on with stabilizers. Shows a lot of wear from being outside but has mostly held up.
We need a pic of your bike all loaded up!
