Bike blerg thread

I prefer to think of it that shorter people have the advantage (to a point) of shorter wheelbases which I like better on any terrain. It’s one of the main reasons I stick with the CG. It’s a shorter wheelbase but still big tire friendly. That thing descends so well on sketchy terrain. With the 48mm Gravelking SKs there was no such thing as a bad line.

PS - not talking about bag bikes.

I really want a really long bike. I rarely get out of the saddle, and TC I love how my LHT handles, especially downhill. Sure it rides like a brick, but it’s a brick I feel like I’m in control of and it just keeps plowing through everything the ATX bike lanes can throw at me. Sporty bikes always feel twitchy to me

while i appreciate your preferences
this post makes me want to vomit and quit riding bikes forever
short chainstay crew forever and ever amen

the coffee grinder has the God of Grip looking over it constantly. there is a twisty descent on my regular route and it has an off camber left hand turn that’s constantly wet and covered in road grit. yet somehow the cg just does not care. it is amazing.

Because we’re trying to change the subject. If I want an xtracycle, I’ll go buy an xtracycle.

You probably should.

Should I?

Only if you sell two other bikes first.

Not the HG.

Honestly loved how my xtracycle handled in everything but snow and super steep loose inclines. Even dithering on dirt walking paths it was fun, so long as things didn’t get too twisty. Rivs seem great for sitting and spinning and just taking it in. For actual wind in your hair ‘spirited’ riding, maybe not so much.

Well, yeah. It’d replace whatever I’m using as a road bike lol.

I should probably wait for the Endpoint Rando or just go custom with something stupid like 0.65-0.35-.065

They also have the non-elite 2019 version call the “SE” which looks pretty similar to the 2018:
https://masibikes.com/collections/adventure/products/speciale-randonneur-se-2019

I hope they make the SE available as a frameset, i’d prefer QR axles since I want to put some locking skewers on them for in-city use.

oh wait, there is a 3rd version that fits inbetween the SE and the Elite:

I wonder if the frame is any less of a tank than my Steel District

Apparently Reed measured one with his ultrasonic wall thickness device, per 650b google group:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/650b/_g2o1fGxTx0

I was surprised to see that Reed’s measurements of the 2018 Masi showed what appears to be an 7/5/7 top tube and 8/6/8 downtube. I was expecting it to be 9/6/9 all around, because that is what is the best tradeoff in dent resistance and performance for standard 4130 tubing, which is what I assume they use. The lighter toptube (the 0.5mm part is what matters) should help the ride.
