I was so excited about that link because I couldn’t find any 26s last time I looked.

Unpopular opinion: It’s probably the Big Apple

Gonna go against popular opinion, I like the Big Apples more than the Powerblocks. The Powerblocks are squirmy feeling when turning and they’ve felt more sensitive to pressure than the Apples, at least on pavement, atmo.

I had a reasonably nice pair of no-name beach-cruiser ish tires in 26x2.35 that I really liked. They were cheap wire beads, so cheap that they didn’t have any flat protection bullshit and so actually ended up being reasonably supple (better than 26" Resist Nomads for sure).

Of course, I haven’t been able to find them since.

My kingdom for a pair of the original Schwalbe SuperMoto 26X2.35 tires (big-apple type tread, before they got thicker and more e-bikey).

Anyone ridden Vee Speedsters?

I’ve still got a set of these in 29". This was a tire sweet spot. Big and cushy, great grip, and a nice balance of weight and durability. I tried “Big Ones” at one point and got a flat on my first ride because they are like paper thin. Going to switch to Big Apples when I wear out the SuperMotos, and while I think the Big Apple isn’t bad relative to its durability, but SuperMotos were perfect

Big apples rule. I’ve had the same pair for 5 years and they still have half their life left. Have yet to get a flat on them and they’re not the least comfy tires.

Yeah we have them on our blackborow in 27.5 x 4. They’re not bad if you can find the tubeless versions. The wire beads ones definitely aren’t as nice.

my rule used to be after 4 flats with two of them within a little while of each other it’s time for a new tire. decided to cut my big apple open to see how bad it was and i only got 2.5 out of their 7 years of life
