the only argument I would accept is that it feels smoother or something.
Four-cornered simultaneous crank rotation
they do make a point…

It bothers me that with the relatively affordable wattage meters of today that shit like this still exists. Wattage-in compared to wattage-out. It’s the most basic of measurements taken on racecars on a dyno. What is the engine horsepower vs the horsepower to the wheels?
Basically, I’d bet anything that the energy lost in this guys contraption is more than energy saved because of its gain.
And let’s not forget that the ‘dead zone’ is pretty easily negated by proper training.
who has time for proper training, though? I WANT RESULTS NOW.
From the grant blog:
I, on the other hand, have had to cut back hours here, to save some money. Some changes in schedules. There is no alternative and no cushion. On a slow day here we ship out 15 UPS packages, and there have been too many slow days here.
Everybody here knows and is fine with the chopped schedule. We’ve been overstaffed & over-houred for a long time It’s horrible to have to cut hours, I hate it.
That’s not weird to reduce employee hours in the winter.
True. I’m just wondering if we’ll see another buy-a-gift-certificate post in x weeks.
Or after the last one Grant read all the comments back-seat-driving his business and this is really saying yes, dummies, I know I can reduce labor costs if I have to - the point is I value my employees and I wouldn’t if I didn’t have to.
Hey, PVD has a new bike up
I’d rather talk about Grant; I want to see Rivendell survive and I don’t particularly care what PVD has to say about anything.
Why do you want Rivendell to survive? It kinda seems like they had a decent twenty year run staking out quirky territory, but didn’t really have a second act once other people got interested in similar things.
I’m not really a fan of the company, are they doing something distinctively interesting these days?
Mainly because I’d like to see them pivot back to some of their earlier bicycle designs, but also that they occasionally they have a flash of brilliance like the Rosco Bubbe and I’d like to see more of them.
thus spake PVD
A flat bar all-road bike that is better in every way than all others in the class.
So maybe PVD didn’t have a satisfying experience over at v salon?
All you have to do is read any of the major bicycle publications or go over to Velocipede Salon, Pinkbike, or MTBR and you will be astounded by how little people understand of even the most basic topics in bicycles.
it’s worth looking up. he showed up, yelled all his best yells, and then sort of disappeared
Yeah, I remember reading a while back some of the thread he dropped into. Can’t say I care to find out more beyond that. Sort of already hating myself that I’m reading his stuff.
Let’s talk about Grant more.
…when the bike is campaigned in more aggressive dirt environments.
