What irks me is that I consider myself a pretty nutmeg-pilled person. I’ve always liked ultraromance’s builds and have spent many of my shop shifts with the riv staff bikes page opened. That whole wing of bicycling was big in my formative bike years until I matúréd into a tarck snob. I will stan steel frames and leather saddles and gum wall tires and friction shifters as hard as the ibob crowd.
None of these hit that mark… like at all. Big swing and a miss displays of wealth that intrigue the unwashed masses because to them an expensive bike is cool whether it is tasteful or not. People buying old shit because it will get them cool guy points, not because it’s the cheapest way to get a functional bike. For shame!
