Bike blerg thread

This Heisenbergian interchangeability of Cues where compatibility can be observed until the parts are installed is just so weird.

I think we’re talking about the Essa derderder and its legacy pull. We’ve already installed a few on old friction shifter bikes and the 2:1 pull blends.

What it DOESN’T like is smaller cassettes. The upper pulley really wants at least an 11-36 cassette and a single ring to work well.

Yeah honestly it feels like Cues might be a decent budget group depending on street price but nothing I’m reading in this conversation suggests that the dithering will be straightforward at all. As a 9 speed dead ender, it doesn’t seem worth the cost or potential trouble to try to get a clutch or another gear or 2 yet

I’m just gonna sit back and let Russ at PLP do all the bad ideas, my bikes are solid, now I have to wear 'em out

Can you spot the tarck containment breach in the latest PLP video?

He should have said “shout-out to drwelby for the front derailleur dithering”

I’m also the person that told him to just ziptie the cable to the the existing housing

One down a few billion to go

PLP gonna be fist in the air when he hear Cues shakes are finally here…and they’re hydro only.

Am just back from a rare trip to the local roadie shop here in Vancouver. 650b tires and 2x are endangered species in the drop bar gravel world. Am feeling firmly counter culture keeping those going.

My NFE is going GRX chainset with TA’s 44-28 rings. I’ll drop from 175 to 170 arms all whilst getting lower gearing and a more useable big ring. On the downside, I now have to source FD pulley and give up the lovely CX-70. Looked at Cues for a second but used GRX is so cheap right now. Regardless, Cues play is about OE market and us dither types aren’t the target.

To PLP or to the good Dr Welby?

I met R&L at NAHBS Austin which was the start of their Brompton all the time phase, so it’s not me.

Let me know what you find. I want to buy one to throw in my bike bin and forget I bought it. Then, in a few years, I’ll buy a bottom pull fd and a pulley and then, when it’s all installed, I’ll find the old pulley.

why do you need to ditch the CX-70? Works fine on 44-28 on my NFE.

Am going to start with this one. I’ll post up if it puts up a fight w/Glenn’s braze-on, but otherwise assume it worked from me.
