Here’s this year, it was something else. The top 5 came in under the old course record, today. The winner, Ty Magner, beat it by 1:33 - which is almost exactly 1%.

(My personal times are the star point  )

Wish I could buy the blueprint

I turned into a steel is real dude but now that I’m worried about the clock ticking on my steel frame that is trying to rust out the top tube due to my effusive perspiration I guess I am becoming alloy-curious again

I hate the internet

It’s so hard to go past titanium. All my steel bikes are rusty. The carbon ones are rock solid, and the alloy ones the paint is just bubbling off them. On the other hand the titanium bike is so old the geo is pretty naff… Its super cool being able to just rub the dirt off with no care for the surface at all tho. I guess alloy could be like that if its not painted ?

Alloy not better from a sweat corrosion pov afaik. Metals and salt will do their thing in either case.

Maybe focus on keeping paint/coatings up and trust in surly’s turdly butts?

Yeah honestly I should probably just spray the top tube again and not use shitty spraybike paint and it would probably be good for another 12 years lol

would love to test out a chessie; do you have final geometry posted anywhere? wondering what aluminum that isn’t punishing feels like having only ridden old cannondales and track frames

We’ll have it posted when the pre-sale is released!

Is bikepacking.com broken?

Seems like it to me. And it happened like 10 min after I got charged $70 for another year of membership in the Bikepacking Collective.

Looks back now
