Bike blerg thread

I don’t know about purported stiffness gains or whatever other marketing nonsense has been spit out about them but TA are undeniable good for one thing and that is removing a disc brake rear wheel.

The gouged chainstay on my QR disc bike agrees.

I watched a Paris Roubaix recap the other day and, after not watching road racing for years, seeing dudes on the side of the road unscrewing their thru-axles was really funny to me. #brinbgbacktheelegance #atmo

I’m happy to not deal with QRs on disc brake bikes ever again.

Most of my qr hubs take Allen bolts

I finally got a TA bike after feeling the same way and it was kinda like when I replaced the old blown shock on my ST1100. I hadn’t really considered how busted the old shock was until I was going through a corner and waiting for the thing to buck and lurch and it just… didn’t happen. That’s kinda how it feels for me as a big dude riding QR vs TA on the street right now. The QR bikes are fine but the TA bike feels much more planted in the corners.

Do wish I had TA on my cargo bike though

I am not saying you should change all your bikes to non qr bikes

Qr bikes are fine

But disc bikes with ta are better

Specifically in the brake steer and rear wheel reinsert categories

and mystery QR creaks

Posting in support of QR disc :raised_fist:

you’ll have to pry my QR rim brake wheels from my cold dead hands after you deflate the tires and move the brake pads out of the way

Having had to deal with q/r wheels on a couple of bikes the last few years that ended up requiring caliper adjustments or fiddling with the wheel to get it set properly anytime a wheel was removed, death to q/r for disc brake bikes.
