i am partly guilty of succumbing to the basket bike propaganda as a zoomer who fell into xbiking a few years back. but i also did my first bike tour on a 3x rockhopper with a cetma rack, probably before that subreddit even existed

I’m just annoyed coz my partner had a Kona hot as their wallpaper when we first started going out and like 4 years ago I wanted to get them one as a bday gift and them shits aren’t $100 garage fodder anymore

I’d rather have PLP, Gary’s Projects, 2ndLifeBikes, etc. getting some views and doing ATB life propaganda than have the entirety of the airwaves given over to GCN. It’s not like it’s the only ‘vintage / thrift’ category ruined by internet visibility.
Kids as a whole are riding bikes a whole lot less, and I’d rather see them get cool again, and if the price to be paid for that is some TikTok culture vultures pay their rent, so be it. That’s unavoidable these days.

that includes the stem, bar-ins, and two forks worth of dropouts and crowns.
The sickest basket bike I’ve ever ridden was a carbon giant road bike with flat pedals, flat bars and the wald zipp tied around some old tubes padding the fork. Carbon is sick. I’ve only ever had steel and aluminum bikes but only cuz I’ve always been poor.
Remember the internet is awful. Kids love old heads in person… they are absolutely hungry for someone to invest time into them.
