There’s a knog on the bars, too. But what else am I gonna do for lights? Like I want one of those ghetto plastic mount things stuck on there. This is at least a beetle so it can be seen!
I got the frame and some of the parts on eBay, got the cranks, wheelset, and bars/stem from fixed.gr/nyc, a competitor bike shop for the stem wedge thing and the 7-spd freewheel, and the Rolls from artblur. Only took me about 2-3 weeks start to finish. Here are some build pics:
I’m so thrilled with it I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m gonna polish some of the parts up a bit, I just couldn’t wait to get it all together.
[quote=Neil_240]^^Not nearly as nice as the last build but I’m going to see if I can burn these out on the table this afternoon. 3/16" mild steel(test ones)
High Def. plasma. If I don’t like the cut on them which I’m sure I won’t. I will get some cut next time we send something for water jet cutting.
I need to start using this plasma more but can’t think of things that I really want cut out.
^^ also are water jet guys had to cut a piece of alum 24" thick once, they said it took forever.
edit: also these didn’t get done. floor guy deleted the tech tables so I need to load them before cutting.
I’ve always wanted to learn to do it, and have access to a machine shop, but it never seemed appealing career-wise. I’d probably have an easier time getting a job in a machine shop than an architecture firm right now though.
This thread = me, jealous. I’m itching to build something new but just dropped all spare bike monies on the T-Mobile Giant, no new build until after Christmas. Then MTB build, cause that’s the only thing I don’t have.
After this morning realization, I’m going to pass now, hoping I can get rid of this frame and use the money on fakecheck. I need a triple and deraileur and maybe a new STi shifter. and fenders
