TC: I don’t get eMTBs at my local trails. I did 7 miles and 1k of climbing in an hour and felt pretty good but I feel like I would have been bored as shit and completely overbiked if I was one of the many people on ebikes.
Yeah the only use-case that makes sense to me is as a lift-access replacement. Otherwise just get a moto and go do moto things and leave the trails alone.
I’d never ridden an eMTB until I test rode a Spesh today and I would 100% own one. I loathe climbing (I’m also extremely out of shape). 7 miles sounds like pure misery atmo so I would take any help I could get.
Overbiked? I see 10bong enduro bikes on smooth single track that I’ve ridden on my Bridgestone w a Clydesdale fork
I guess I understand an eMTB for some of the spots around here where you’ve got trails down and fire roads back up, like what you’re saying, a lift replacement
But also: now that I have a kid and very limited time, getting more distance in for the same amount of time sounds nice (road or mtb)
Ebikes in the hands of geriatrics is terrorism
yeah, i love mine for that.
but also i use it like a shuttle when i ride from home because i’m at the top of the hill. it’s 1800 ft in 3.6 miles riding up the trail to my house. i can do it just fine, but ending with that climb it’s just unbearable mentally, so it’s either start at the botton or eeb if i’m riding my neighborhood trails.
still often mad about e-bike dads blasting by on climbs on blue trails though. is it that hard for people to slow to a more normal speed when passing people uphill?
Well it’s not your fault that you need a lift going up to your home.
When we were looking at houses, one of the ones we liked was at the top of a hill and every ride was going to end with either a 900’ or 600’ climb. Sup was very upset with how much I was actually taking that into consideration w/ the pros/cons list. Luckily enough someone bought it sight unseen to turn it into an Air B&B so I didn’t have to worry about it…
